"We teach a style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu we studied under our Professor, Henry Matamoros - a Pedro Sauer 3rd degree black belt. Our system is a free flowing, open guard based system. We teach a simplified and fun version of our style in our children's program, where we teach our kids self defense, and more importantly, self confidence. At our Milwaukee Jiu Jitsu and MMA Gym, we teach a unique striking style catered to our MMA fighters. It is a blend of traditional Dutch style kickboxing, Muay Thai, and techniques and concepts we've learned and apply when we compete in MMA. We have students that train with us to learn self defense. We have students that really love the martial arts. We have students who join with their own fitness goals in mind. Some of our students really enjoy the competition side of our martial arts. We have a strong professional and amateur competitive fight team. We travel around the country participating in MMA events. We are active on the local level, including our own promotion, and on the national level on televised cards. Our gym name and gym motto is "Pura Vida." The direct translation is Pure Life, but the more accurate translation is "Good Life." We teach it, we live it, and we want to share it with you." BrewCity CrossFit is a fitness training facility located in downtown Milwaukee that employs the CrossFit method of strength and conditioning. The Gym is owned and operated by Andy Drobac and Danny Noonan. We believe that the modern day fitness industry and big commercial gyms have failed most people. We know that fitness is not so complicated, and that real, functional fitness can be achieved much more quickly and much more enjoyably than you might think. We’ll introduce you to CrossFit, and redefine your concept of fitness. CrossFit is a fitness program that is designed to be broad, general, and inclusive. Practitioners of CrossFit specialize in not specializing. The CrossFit methodology is designed for universal scalability, which makes it the perfect routine for any committed student regardless of experience, from cage fighters to grandmothers. Many police academies, tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide incorporate CrossFit into their strength and conditioning programs because it works. Our members are extremely diverse in their experience, conditioning, and lives. BrewCity CrossFit is a community. Our atmosphere is one of support and camaraderie for anyone willing to put in the work. We don’t have exotic weightlifting machines or treadmills or flat screen TVs or mirrors. But we do have pull up bars, kettlebells, medicine balls, gymnastic rings, barbells and dumbbells. We have lots of floor space for push-ups, sit-ups and plyometrics. We have tires for flipping and ropes for climbing. CrossFit incorporates a variety of exercises including Olympic and power weightlifting, gymnastics, body-weight movements, running and rowing, and many other elements. Come visit us at 408 W. Florida St., next to The Ironhorse Hotel, or visit our website: brewcitycrossfit.com (coming soon)

In 1996 the Greater Milwaukee Foundation founded the Youth in Service Fund as part of a national movement. The program was created to engage young people in community decision-making and philanthropy. After many years of success and granting nearly $550,000 to projects led by youth the Youth In Service Fund transitioned to an independent non-profit profit organization, Lead2Change, Inc. Today Lead2Change programming is the result of growth and a comprehensive needs assessment conducted in the summer of 2009 by Youth Advisory Council members. As stated by Milwaukee’s youth in the needs assessment, the greater Milwaukee area was in need of additional youth leadership and service opportunities. Lead2Change has endeavored to help fill this gap as it envisions a community strengthened through constructive youth engagement in all aspects of society.
