Located just a few blocks west of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge (TPB), the history of The Shore Road Tavern is linked directly with the bridge's construction in 1929. The TPB was built to replace the existing ferry service across the Delaware River, providing a span connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Upon completion of the bridge, Philadelphians now had an easier route to the New Jersey coastline, or in Philly vernacular "The Shore". And being located directly on PA Route 73 which, at the time, terminated at the TPB, The Shore Road Tavern was born. Today the bar remains relatively unchanged from the 30's with the exception of it's current evolution into an intimate music venue specializing in American roots music; blues, bluegrass, country, rockabilly, surf, and folk. It's a warm, friendly, and comfortable room with a great PA system and amazing acoustics. We started doing live events a few times a month starting in March of 2012 and, to date, have hosted shows by: Husky Burnette Hellbound Glory Molly Gene One Whoaman Band Cutthroat Shamrock Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band JB Beverley and the Wayward Drifters The Chop Tops Three Bad Jacks Yankee Cockfight Ray Cashman The Calamity Cubes!
