Tango dance studio and club. All levels welcome. $25 Argentine Tango lesson for absolute beginners, no previous dance experience necessary. No partner needed. If you can count to eight and hear the beat in the music, you will be dancing half an hour into the lesson. We provide a great learning experience in a friendly atmosphere, because even the greatest dancers weren’t born knowing how to dance – they had to learn it from someone else. The Tango style that we teach is not the flashy one you see on "Dancing with the Stars" or "So You Think You Can Dance." The Tango we teach is called social, or salon style. However, if you want to try a couple of these showy Tango moves, we can show them to you as well! Couple of important items – please wear clean and comfortable clothes. If you've never danced tango before, you’ll also need a couple of pairs of thick socks. If you have shoes with leather or suede bottoms, bring them with you, but you do not need to buy any shoes before coming to your first class. All of our classes include appetizers, deserts, and refreshments: Tuesday – $25.00 class and practica from 7:30pm to 1:00am Friday – $25.00 classes (all levels) from 7:30pm to 9:30pm; milonga starts at 9:30pm and ends at 2:00am Sunday – $25.00 classes (all levels) from 3:00pm to 5:00pm; practilonga starts at 5:00pm and ends at 7:00pm (or whenever we get tired of dancing!) Art Lab is an experiment. It asks the question: Can traditional artists' studios evolve into a galaxy of community arts hubs? The answer -- based on activity in the last 3 years -- is a resounding, "Yes!" In the context of this experiment, Art Lab, strives to serve the parallel and mutual benefit of: 1) the larger arts community; 2) art community’s patrons; and 3) individual working artists / artisans. The BIG IDEA that animates Art Lab 123 is that it can, by its existence and mission, promote community building and purposeful living. --STOP READING HERE -- Blah, blah, blah. Still reading, okay: "...that it can, over time, be a catalyst and model for positive, sustainable and reproducible change. We strive to: create new meeting places and affordable work spaces for artists / artisans; and to connect art collectors and artisans / artists with other community members. We endeavor to animate the above toward the exchange and implementation of ideas that pro-actively and preemptively promote a more peaceful, balanced and sustainable life for persons and communities. Want to be part of Art Lab? …Great! We host some events and promote many others, but do NOT offer a traditional “the doors are open 9-5 and come on in” format. So call us at 312 371-4301 or email us at [email protected] to learn more about how YOU can make Art Lab 123 a creative sanctuary and an important resource center as you start or move forward in your own individual projects and paths; or with your groups’ arts or community building activities in Chicago and beyond.
