Our services are centered on three key, core platforms: LIVING, LEARNING & ENRICHING. The Living program is an integrated approach to domestic support. The Learning program fosters hope in students striving to achieve their goals. The Enriching program is comprised of activities and events to provide a sense of normalcy and community throughout the transitional experience for the whole family, whether the experience is a moving from a shelter into a new home, or apartment, & helping their children apply for college. These programs are supported by Camp4All, our highly successful summer camp, and the Vita Network, which provides ongoing, personal assistance to our core group of families. We believe that the pool is a magical place that levels the playing field. The ripple effect happens from the inside out. From confidence building and physiological changes, the swimmer understands that they can do anything that they put their mind to. What each child is capable of is unknown....so Let's GO! GO! GO!
The Charlie Foundation was established in 1994 in order to raise awareness about the ketogenic diet as a treatment for childhood epilepsy. The modern success of the diet has led to new demands on the medical community and an expansion of the therapy to neurological disorders and cancers. In order to meet these demands, the Charlie Foundation has enhanced its mission to include educational programs and support for families, dietitians, neurologists and researchers. The ketogenic diet controls epilepsy in patients with difficult-to-control seizures at a significantly higher rate than any drug or combination of drugs. The success of the diet for epilepsy has been recognized by medical professionals for over ninety years. The diet has also more recently been administered as a therapy for improving other neurological conditions and arresting cancers. Over one billion people in the world have neurological disorders, including fifty million people who live with epilepsy, and the prevalence of cancers is even greater. A renewed interest in the ketogenic diet has brought together many of the best minds in research to advance knowledge and treatment of these disorders. The Charlie Foundation’s mission is to offer solutions for the treatment of epilepsy, neurological disorders, and cancers, and to provide resources and educational information to an expanding network of medical professionals, caregivers and patients. Our vision is to create and support initiatives that bring our global community closer to illness prevention and treatment solutions.

Upward Bound House is a community-based, social service agency headquartered in Santa Monica California. We are a federally recognized non-profit organization founded in 1991 to help mitigate the affordable housing crisis in Los Angeles County. We strive to reduce the number of homeless families with minor children who are hungry and living on the streets of Los Angeles, helping them to access basic resources and successfully transition into their own home.
Palisades Post 283 was established on May 15, 1928 when a committee of five World War I veterans formed to prepare plans for organizing a local American Legion Post. The five men were C.D. Clearwater, W.B. Johnson, F.J. Sauer, Telford Work and R.L. Stadler. By July 14 of that same year the committee of five had a temporary charter, which became permanent less than four months later. The permanent charter was signed by the American Legion National Commander Paul V. McNutt on November 2nd and by officials of the Department of California on November 12th the same year. Membership, which at first included only the fifteen charter members listed on the charter: C.D. Clearwater, W.B. Johnson, F.W. Townsend, F.J. Sasuer, H.J. Keller, N.E. Winston, Telford Work, E.W. Michel, T.T. Corr, A.R. Smith, N. Ninteman, J.E. Stadler, H. DuRocher, and L.W. Faubion increased to twenty veterans by the date of the permanent charter. The new members were L.G. Catlin, E. James, W.W. Culp, J.V. Cochran and M. DeFussi. Initially members met in their homes and in available business offices. The First true clubhouse was a rental property on Beverly Boulevard, which is now Sunset Boulevard, was obtained during the tenure of the third Post Commander R.L. Stadler who served in 1930 1931. During the 1940s, Post 283 purchased as a clubhouse a building on the site now occupied by the Sav-On Drug Store. The present clubhouse was occupied on October 12, 1966. Throughout its 75 year history Post 283 has continually participated in community improvements projects, Youth programs and a strong Veteran service program. In all these activities our Auxiliary Unit 283, to whom we are greatly and deeply grateful, has supported us ably and fully. Together we work toward to the future with pride and confidence. The Auxiliary Unit 283 was chartered in February 1931 and will celebrate its 75th anniversary in less than three years. For 72 years, this organization has cooperated unselfishly and devoted in all our programs.
