Justin Giarla has worked for a decade to maintain White Walls as the premiere destination of urban and contemporary art in the Bay Area. Combined with sister space, the Shooting Gallery and two project spaces, our state of the art 5,000 square foot space is one of the largest galleries on the west coast. The aesthetic and conceptual quality of work shown at White Walls has earned us a vital role in the contemporary art market- one we embrace wholeheartedly. We are proud to continue showcasing the most progressive artists working today. In February of 2013 we moved to the historic 886 Geary building and we're now happy to offer the space as an events venue to the community. As a venue, our building presents the sleek, white-walled aesthetic of a contemporary art gallery with modern, architectural elegance. With capabilities to house more than 300 guests for standing receptions, or 100 sit-downs, the options are vast. The ceiling is replete with skylights, which pour in natural light for day events, as well as suspended lighting tracks that provide versatile illumination for evenings. Our 14-foot high ceilings are furnished with exposed original timber beams that refer to the building's heritage as a former bakery in the historic Tenderloin.

Vision With Asia as our lens and art as our cornerstone, we spark connections across cultures and through time, igniting curiosity, conversation, and creativity. Asia is not one place. The ideas and ideals that we call Asian are countless and diverse. Some of the works we display pre-date written history. Others were recently created. Many have connections to works from other continents and other millennia. We explore these links, provoking discovery, debate, and inspiration. At the Asian Art Museum, artistic and educational programs empower visitors to discover the relevance of great artworks in profoundly personal ways. Immersed in our galleries, visitors ponder the universal values found in human expression. Through the bustle of daily programs, students of the world steep in cultures through art, music, dance, and tradition. In the clamor of our classrooms, children build bridges to old and new worlds. This is the vision of our Asian Art Museum. Mission Our mission is to lead a diverse global audience in discovering the unique material, aesthetic, and intellectual achievements of Asian art and culture.
