A community center for alternative education open to all regardless of legal status, where we mix creative and practical knowledge. - A think-tank for reflection, debate and action by people’s philosophers to reimagine the role of immigrants in society and to change unjust situations. - A laboratory for artivist practices that merge arts and activism. IMI Corona’s VALUES ARE: - To promote social justice and respect for our rights through education and art. We create opportunities to share our knowledge. Everyone can be an educator, and everyone can learn. The educational space will be one of respect and trust; everyone will learn at their own pace without creating an atmosphere of competition. - To care for and question our own culture. To recognize the value of our traditions, and to create a space to protect and practice our traditions. But also, to recognize oppressive practices within our own culture and to create new traditions that open spaces for a diversity of cultures within our community without stereotyping. - To have a culture of unity, solidarity and support. We know that we are different, but we can work as a group. We accept constructive criticism and are kind when we critique. In IMI Corona we FIGHT FOR: - Listening and defending the dignity of each human being. We want to create a space where our can be expressed so that we can be active people, so that we can care for each other, listen to each other, and speak our opinions without fear. - Access to education and health for migrants and workers in Corona and in New York, in solidarity and comradeship with all nationalities, races, genders, and sexual identities that live in our neighborhoods. - The creation of strong communities that can defend themselves and respond to the violence and oppression that we experience in creative and healing ways. We come together to learn, and we believe that politics is a way of acting as a group with a collective social justice conscience and an ethos of collaborative work. We believe in community organizing as the way to fight for social justice for immigrants, women, youth and workers.
IM International is a project that operates on multiple levels. IM International is an art project implementing the concept of Useful Art, in which artists actively implement the merger of art into society’s urgent social, political, and scientific issues. IM International functions as a think-tank for immigrant issues. IM International works to be part of the fights for the advancement of immigrant rights and we advocate for progressive immigration policies. We are actively working toward challenging the way human migration is perceived, in order to eliminate the social stigma associated with it. These issues are explored through political and artistic actions to pursue the empowerment of migrants to take on issues that most affect them personally as well as the immigrant community at large.

Under the leadership of Dr. Ron Daniels, IBW´s vision is rooted in the values of cooperation, community and mutual respect. It is founded on the principles of self-determination, African humanism and social justice. The struggle for social transformation through the creation of new relationships and institutions is central to our task. The objective of our work is to create greater unity among people of African descent, to acquire and maintain power to reconstruct our communities and to build viable and vital nations, inspired by the idea of a new, non-exploitative social order. IBW implements its Mission by engaging highley skilled and committed board members: Board Chairperson Rick Adams, Treasurer Richard Jones, Secretary Mary France-Daniels, Leonard Dunston, Kinaya Sokoya, Jacqui Patterson, Hulbert James, Greg Akili, Kareem A. Aziz, Dr. Leslie Alexander, Mark Batson, Dr. Jeanette Davidson, Folami Harris, Dr. Jemadari Kamara, State Senator Constance Johnson, Dr. Karin Stanford, Michelle Kim Thomas, Sandino Thompson, and Tara J. Young, along with other individuals, organizations, institutions, and movements that aspire to transform and reconstruct communities of African descent. The Institute is catalyst and facilitator as well as analyst and policy maker. IBW believes creating networks, facilitating linkages and fostering communications among individuals, between organizations and communities is an essential part of our mission. The Institute does not necessarily seek to implement projects alone, rather to provide access to information and resources which allow local groups to initiate projects and build linkages with others doing similar work. Strategic partnerships and local support committees will also be vehicles for collaborative implementation of IBW projects and initiatives.

“Generations after generations people change accordingly to their modern time. Drugs, Problems, Struggles, Addictions, Gangs, fall of economy, Wars, Divorced, Wondering of your future, Questioning the existence of God, Parents abandoning their kids and Murders remain the same. The need still brings people to question their intellectual. It has always been a sin problem. People are getting hooked, are struggling, and facing problems much younger every time. Way before they had an understanding, there truly is a God.” L.C
