The Museum of Tolerance New York is a dynamic, experiential facility centrally located in mid-town Manhattan. The Foundation’s support begins early in a student’s associate’s degree studies and continues through the completion of a bachelor’s degree. Financial assistance includes scholarships and additional funding to assist with other educational and living expenses. All Kaplan Leadership Scholars are provided with academic advising, transfer admissions, career counseling and job placement support, and admissions guidance for graduate and professional programs. The KLP’s curriculum was developed to target the academic, financial and personal/social development of its participants reflecting our belief that the whole student must be addressed to effect long-term success. There are currently 8 Cohorts of Kaplan Scholars. This includes 20 active Kaplan Leadership Scholars in the program and 25 alumni. Scholar and Alumni Profile: • 18-37 years old • 23 Women / 22 Men • 27 Black / 18 Latino • 77% are first generation college students • 98% are Pell Grant eligible • 8 have children Results: • Over 90% of students accepted into the KLP complete their associate’s degree and transfer to a senior college. • Over 90% of the Kaplan Scholars who transfer earn a bachelor’s degree. • A number of selective senior colleges actively recruit and provide substantial financial aid to KLP Scholars (see notations in “Attended” section below). • Scholars have participated in reputable scholarly research programs, landed and completed coveted internships with non-profits and corporations in the U.S. and abroad. • 100% of our Alumni are employed full-time at jobs in their fields of study or in graduate school. • Alumni are employed in various fields including education, non-profit, scientific research and Fortune 500 companies including Colgate Palmolive and JP Morgan Chase (full employer list below). • Of the over 30% of alumni have applied to graduate school all were accepted; and two have earned a master’s both on fellowships. • Program alumnus is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was salutatorian. • Hostos Community College’s Class of 2011 Valedictorian is a Kaplan Scholar. • 2 Scholars have earned scholarships from the National Science Foundation. • A program alumnus was wait listed for a Fulbright Fellowship. The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon nominated the first ever Youth Envoy, Mr. Ahmad Alhendawi of Jordan, on 17th of January 2013. The Youth Envoy is mandated with a task of bringing the voices of young people to the United Nations System. Moreover, the Youth Envoy also works with different UN Agencies, Governments, Civil Society, Academia and Media stakeholders towards enhancing, empowering and strengthening the position of young people within and outside of the United Nations System. The role of the Youth Envoy is also described by the UN Secretary-General as a "harmonizer between all UN agencies" to bring them together to explore cooperation opportunities for working with and for young people.

The Headquarters of the World Organization is located on an 18-acre site on the East side of Manhattan. It is an international zone belonging to all Member States. The United Nations has its own security force, fire department and postal administration. Visitors from all over the world often like to send postcards back home with United Nations stamps - these stamps can only be mailed from the United Nations. The Headquarters consist of four main buildings: the General Assembly building, the Conference Building, the 39-floor Secretariat building, and the Dag Hammarskjold Library, which was added in 1961. The complex was designed by an international team of 11 architects, led by Wallace K. Harrison from the United States.

UNMAS coordinates the UN effort to eliminate landmines & explosive remnants of war & to mitigate their impact on people's lives. The United Nations works with affected states to reduce the threat and impact of mines and ERW, including cluster munitions, on peace and security, humanitarian relief, human rights, and socio-economic development; it does so in partnership with civil society, the private sector, international and regional arrangements, and donors with an aim to secure levels of prevention and protection for individuals and communities, at which point UN mine action assistance is no longer requested. The UN Programme on Youth -Focal Point on Youth- aims to build an awareness of the global situation of young people, as well as promote their rights and aspirations. The Focal Point also works towards greater participation of young people in decision-making as a means of achieving peace and development.
Sustainable peace depends on the full participation of women in all decision-making to prevent violent conflict and to protect all civilians. The NGO Working Group believes that a broad and positive impact on the lives of all people experiencing conflict will result from full implementation of SCR 1325 and promotion of the Beijing Platform for Action, CEDAW and other supporting instruments. We further believe that implementation of SCR 1325 is a necessary tool for the prevention of armed conflict and to facilitate inclusion of gender in the ongoing peace and security discourse taking place within the UN and internationally.
THE RELIGIONS FOR PEACE - GLOBAL INTERFAITH YOUTH NETWORK harnesses the energy and commitment of religious youth leaders all over the world to advance the mission of multi-religious co-operation for peace. The Network gained full momentum in 2006 when the six regional inter-religious youth networks were launched in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Middle East. For 54 years we have sponsored and promoted the widely acclaimed Jane Addams Children’s Book Awards.
