The interior of Cure Lounge was designed by John Stefanon of JFS Design Studio, Inc. The design aesthetics of Cure Lounge were drawn from a strong focus on history and mood. Originally designed to be the ladies lounge and orchestra area to the theater this uniquely beautiful space called for an understated elegance evocative of the period. Finished with a “Victorian Chic” design, the glamorized cues of Cure Lounge are evident from the moment you step in. Bold dramatic statements of shapes and patterns with a subtle, sophisticated color palette, balance and juxtapose each other in Jing-Jang form to bring a unique vibe to this historical Boston gem. Cure Lounge’s mood is enhanced within as you transition from the Main Lounge to the Back Lounge and a more surreal aesthetic introduces what use to be the orchestra pit area. The inspiration of “moths drawn to a flame” called for dim lighting and elements were selected to transport patrons into a warm summer night on the streets of Shanghai – or a far away fantasy location. Both lounges were created to bring an exciting movement within time and fantasy.

Wally's Café is among the oldest family owned and operated jazz clubs & live entertainment venues in existence. It was founded in 1947 by Mr. Joseph L. Walcott. We feature live music 365 days a year. Wally's is fortunate to be surrounded by some of the nations most acclaimed institutions for educating musicians. The bands featured nightly at the club are made up of musicians from these institutions, practicing and perfecting their craft. Many of these young aspiring musicians are considered by some to be among the most talented in the nation. This is why Wally's is considered the "Training Ground". The number of celebrated musicians who have used our stage in the process of perfecting their art is long. For over half a century we have consistently maintained a dedication to providing a forum for musicians to perform, and for the community to hear music. We continue to forge ahead in this endeavor. MORE ABOUT WALLY'S: Wally's Cafe was established January 1, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts. The nightclub is located at the famed intersection of Massachusetts and Columbus Avenues. The area was once home to many of Boston's famous jazz clubs during the nineteen forties and fifties. Nightclubs with names like the High Hat, Savoy Ballroom, Chicken Lane, the Wig Wam, Big M, and Wally's Paradise played a major role introducing jazz to the New England community. Wally's was founded by Joseph L. Walcott. Mr. Walcott was a Barbadian who immigrated to America in 1910. After reaching Ellis Island, Mr. Walcott, better known as Wally, joined his brother, who had migrated a few years earlier, in Boston. Wally held many jobs, and with his savings he opened Wally's Paradise at 428 Massachusetts Avenue in 1947. Wally was the first African American to own a nightclub in New England; he brought new and exciting acts to town and the nightclub became a featured attraction for jazz aficionados who rushed to see the famous bands of the day. The Sixties arrived and the Big Band era was diminishing. Wally maintained his commitment to the music we know as jazz by featuring young musicians who were attending prominent academic institutions such as Berklee College of Music, the Boston Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory of Music. Mr. Walcott cleverly decided to hire these young music students and mixed them with seasoned professionals who were veterans of the Big Band era. This mix of talent was special, and the format enabled Mr. Walcott to continue to serve the jazz loving audiences of New England. In 1979 Wally closed its original location at 428 Massachusetts Avenue and moved across the street to 427 Massachusetts Avenue the present location of the nightclub. Wally's Café now features live music 365 days a year. Many of the musicians are professionals, but Wally's still maintains its tradition of providing students with a stage to perfect their craft.

Blue Man Group and Shear Madness currently perform there.HistoryIn 1957, the Charles Playhouse opened at 54 Charles Street. In 1958, the company moved to the current Warrenton Street location. The Warrenton Street building was originally built in 1839, as the Fifth Universalist Church from a design by architect Asher Benjamin. In 1864, it became the second home of Congregation Ohabei Shalom, the first synagogue in Boston. It was later transformed into a speakeasy called The Lido Venice, which became the Southland ballroom and cafe- featuring prominent jazz artists such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Jimmie Lunceford, and many others during the Jazz Age.In 1958, the Charles Playhouse staged a revival of O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh. The founding artistic director, Michael Murray, led the company until 1968. The founder and managing director was Frank Sugrue. The acting company included many stars-to-be such as Al Pacino, Olympia Dukakis, Jill Clayburgh, Jane Alexander, Ned Beatty, and John Cazale. The company produced Boston premieres of plays by Brecht, Beckett, Osborne, and Ionesco, as well as classics by Shakespeare, Shaw, Ibsen, Pirandello, and others.
The Wilbur Theatre is a historic theater at 244-250 Tremont Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The Wilbur Theatre was originally opened in 1914 but was revitalized in 2008. The Wilbur Theatre dwells in the heart of Boston's historic theater district and is known for hosting live comedy and music.Clarence Blackall built the theatre in 1913. The Wilbur was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and designated as a Boston Landmark by the Boston Landmarks Commission in 1987.In 1998 SFX Entertainment (now Live Nation) bought the Boston theater properties of Jon B. Platt, which included the lease on the Wilbur. The lease ended in 2006.In 2007 the theatre was put on the market. Bill Blumenreich, owner of the Comedy Connection, put the building on lease in 2008. It was founded in 1908 as a law school for women.According to NESL's 2013 ABA-required disclosures, 40.6% of the Class of 2013 obtained full-time, long-term, JD-required employment nine months after graduation.HistoryIn 1926, Portia was awarded the authority to award LL.M. degrees to both men and women. As the school entered the 1950s it saw its student body shift from a student body that had a majority female population to a predominately male student body. 1963 saw Portia Law School begin the process of applying for American Bar Association accreditation, and some of the steps the school took included restructuring its board of governors and launching the school's first law review. In 1969, the school changed its name to New England School of Law to coincide with its accreditation granted by the ABA.As New England Law neared its 75th anniversary, new programs were started, the first was the creation of Law Day in 1970 and then the opening of its clinical law services office in 1971. The clinical law services program is performed by the law students to those who did not have the economic means to seek paid legal assistance. In 1980, New England moved into its current location; which is located in the Boston Common neighborhood. To honor the 75th anniversary of New England Law the 41st President, George H. W. The theatre was designated as a Boston Landmark by the Boston Landmarks Commission in 1990.Metropolitan TheatreThe structure was originally known as the Metropolitan Theatre when it opened in 1925. The Metropolitan Theatre was developed by Max Shoolman and designed by architect Clarence Blackall, with the assistance of Detroit theatre architect C. Howard Crane. It opened for use in 1925. It seats more than 3,600 people.Music HallIn 1962 it became the home of the Boston Ballet and was renamed the Music Hall. During the 1960s and 1970s, audiences could see the Stuttgart Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, Bolshoi Ballet and Kirov Ballet as well as popular movies and performing artists. With time though, they could no longer attract the large touring companies because of the size of their stage as well as their outdated production facilities. Converted to a non-profit center in 1980 and renamed the Metropolitan Center, they were able to attract theatrical performances again.
