Brothers and Sisters of Love works directly with gangs of warring parties. They stand directly between persons attempting to shoot at each other, visit gang members in hospitals and prison, and promote the benefit of community. BS/L functions on the belief that love casts out fear. BS/L provides relief to families through physical presence as well as material means such as transportation costs or meal sharing. This ability depends solely on the generosity of donations.

The Pui Tak Center, formerly known as the On Leong Merchants Association Building, is a building located in Chicago's Chinatown. Designed by architects Christian S. Michaelsen and Sigurd A. Rognstad, the building was built for the On Leong Merchants Association and opened in 1928. The Association used it as an immigrant assistance center, and the building was informally referred to as Chinatown's "city hall". In 1988, the FBI and Chicago Police raided the building as part of a racketeering investigation. The US federal government seized the building that same year.The building was purchased by the Chinese Christian Union Church (CCUC) for $1.4 million and renamed the Pui Tak Center in 1993. That same year, the On Leong Merchants Association Building was designated a Chicago landmark by the Commission on Chicago Landmarks. The CCUC spent $1 million raised from community donations to renovate and update the building's neglected interior. The newly named Pai Tak Center now hosts various religious, community, and educational programs, such as English-as-a-Second-Language courses (ESL).In 2007, the Pui Tak Center won a $100,000 grant from the Partners in Preservation, a program sponsored by American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In preparation for the restoration work, the structural and architectural engineering firm Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates completed an evaluation of the building's eastern and southern facades, focusing on its terra cotta portions. Restoration work began in spring 2009 and is scheduled for completion in early 2010. Fully restoring the building's exterior terra cotta pieces and clay roof tiles is the first step in a long-range $2 million repair plan.
For the last forty years Saint James Food Pantry has been serving residents of Chicago’s South Side living in the zip code areas of 60605 and 60616. The Pantry has grow considerably in the last four decades but we have adapted and grown to meet the needs of our neighborhoods. In an average month St. James serves 1,500 families, distributing around 30,000 canned goods. But this ministry cannot happen without help. We are only able to serve such a large area of Chicago with help from volunteers like you. It takes at least 15 volunteers a day to fully staff the pantry at the minimum. Please consider joining the St. James Family by donating your time to help your neighbors. PEI has partnered with NACS to assist with the Fuel Equipment & Services area. This is truly the event of the year for our industry. Head Start: Is a comprehensive child development program tailored to meet the cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs of 3-5 year old children. Moreover, our program further focuses on the medical, dental, hearing & vision, nutrition, disability and special needs of children in the early stages of life. Our ongoing goal is to get our children ready for school and ready for life in a safe, secure and nurturing preschool setting. Health: We assure direct delivery of services such as physical exams, dental exams, immunizations, hearing and vision screenings as indicated in the performance standards. We also ensure that the facility’s City and State Licensing Standards and regulations for health and safety are met.In the disability area, we assess the health status and special needs of children and their families; including referral for treatment, counseling services and other supports services if needed in conjunction with the other content area coordinators and assist in the referral process to CPS for children who are suspected of having a disability. Nutrition: We assist families in meeting each child’s nutrition needs and establishing good eating habits that nurture healthy development and promote life long well being. These goals are reached by: identification of each child’s nutritional needs: the design and implementation of nutritional services programs: meal service in partner and center base programs; family assistance with nutrition: food safety and sanitation. Education: Our Head Start programs provide all enrolled children with a well-designed curriculum (Creative Curriculum) that allows the teacher to know and develop a positive relationship with each child. Teachers follow a consistent schedule, carry through on announced plans and promises, set up an environment where children can find and return materials on their own.Classroom staff provide appropriate play materials that support and challenge children’s abilities, help children express their feelings in constructive ways. They provide appropriate real-world responsibilities and jobs, encourage children to see tasks through to completion and offer children opportunities to make choices. Teachers provide children with ample opportunities for creative expression, allow children freedom to explore the environment, encourage children to work independently. They value children’s ideas and promote problem solving and appropriate risk taking. Family and Community Partners: Henry Booth House Head Start supports families as they identify and meet their own goals, nurture the development of their children, and advocate for communities that are supportive of children and families of all cultures. The building of trusting, collaborative relationships between parents and staff allows them to share with and learn from one another. Family Health: *Doulas function as midwives and pregnancy coaches to ensure at-risk women enjoy healthy pregnancies, deliveries and postpartum. *The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program focuses on women who are pregnant and their child(ren) up to 5 yrs of age. This program educates mothers on the proper nutrition for babies and young children. HBH provides counseling and coupons for proper nutritional foods. * MIECHV- Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting supports pregnant women and families and helps at-risk parents of children from birth to kindergarten entry tap the resources and hone the skills they need to raise children who are physically, socially and emotionally healthy and ready to learn.

The Friends of NTA is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds to support the students and teachers at National Teachers Academy, a Chicago Public School. National Teachers Academy ("NTA") is located at 55 West Cermak in the far south loop. The children at NTA need support from the community. Sacred Transformations is dedicated to helping people who are tattooed, scarred, branded and or burnt from negative experiences to transform those marks into art pieces that celebrate one’s individuality. At Sacred Transformations, our clients work directly with Tattoo Artist and Art Therapist Eric Dean Spruth and our team of dedicated volunteers to transform their bodies and their futures. Clients work with volunteer artists design a custom tattoo that they receive free of charge as they work through the steps of our program. We work in both Chicago IL and Gary IN, and are always seeking volunteers, sponsors, donors or new clients.
