Fashion Follows Interiors Reviews

106 N Aberdeen St
Chicago, IL 60607

As a Senior Interior Designer and Manager of Hospitality projects for over ten years, we look to many outlets of inspiration, but I have always said: "Interiors' follow fashion", and for one night only we plan on reversing that in an effort to support and inspire the Fashion Industry during Chicago Fashion Focus Week... Collins Designs & Co. and a Laura Elvis present: “Fashion Follows Interiors: A Mad Men Event” Twenty selected Designers will create a Mad Men inspired garment for début at our fashion evening and networking event from interior design materials. This much anticipated event of 400+ will be raising awarded monies and student scholarships for the Columbia school of Arts and NEWH (National Education Hospitality Design Industry) through a deconstructed runway contest between 20 participates using Interior Design products from our great Chicago Merchandise Mart to create a 1960's inspired garment. These garments will be debuted the night of the event while you enjoy cocktails, h'orderves and the sounds of Elisa Hunt (songs of Ella Fitzgerald) and a guest DJ with elegant 60's interpretation at the historic Blackstone Hotel ballroom and gallery. The attire and overall tone is chic, cocktail-retro as we'll have photographers roaming the party after a "red carpet" entrance and nothing less than a vintage car and Hollywood flavor line-up at the entrance steps. I hope you enjoy this page as we unfold many more exciting, fabulous and mod delights to come! "If you want to be a Mad Man, you've got to learn to pitch like Don Draper." Cheers, Christy Collins-Collins Designs & Co. & Laura Elvis-Executive Creative Director

Stop in this West Loop saloon for a cold beer and a Southern-tinged eats. A fieldstone-lined fireplace, wood-paneled walls and tables fashioned from whiskey barrels all give a healthy nod toward the bar's country roots. It's named after The Legend of the CrossRoads, which tells the story of a Mississippi Delta blues man who sells his soul at midnight; in fact, you'll find the scene depicted in a mural behind the bar. Take over the boxcar lounge for your private party or event. Going to see the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks or another United Center event? Take the FREE shuttle to/from the venue!

Sometimes you need a place where everyone knows your name. Tin ceilings, brick walls and a 40-foot mahogany bar create a traditional and casual Chicago bar scene. So grab your friends and stop by for some great eats including sliders, wings, sandwiches and salads. Thirsty? 91 beers plus 20 on draft, 91 Bourbons, 61 Tequilas, 36 Scotches and if Vodka, Gin, or Rum are your poison, then we have you more than covered. As for the name? The owner's grandfather owned a tavern near Madison and Halsted called The Rail Inn, so this isjust our way to make a tribute to the third generation of their family. Committed to presenting a vast range of styles and forms of time-based art, DEFIBRILLATOR is dedicated to fostering local talent while invigorating Chicago by bringing to the city artists of exceptional calibre from around the world. Contextualizing performance within visual art, we embrace those who look to the body, objects, space, and time for inspiration, research, and practice. Providing opportunities for established and emerging artists alike, DEFIBRILLATOR is a platform for underrepresented voices and time-based work that does not sit comfortably within pre-established genres or disciplines. Dynamic programming, decidedly fearless and unique, aims to provoke thought and stimulate discourse surrounding performance art. Our goal is to foster and contribute to a global dialog surrounding conceptual, ephemeral, or enigmatic forms of expression.
