Offering convenient stops at New Orleans Square, Tomorrowland, Mickey’s Toontown and Main Street, U.S.A., it's the perfect way to preview the magic at Disneyland Park and take in the picturesque scenery. The Disneyland Railroad is also a handy way to get around quickly and easily. And because the trains are scheduled to arrive every 5 to 10 minutes at most times throughout the day, you’ll have just enough time to take in all the sights at your station before you board! Blast from the Past There are 5 meticulously restored, working narrow-gauge trains you can ride. Each includes 4 sets of passenger cars and has been named after a careful selection of locomotive legends. The lone exception is the Ward Kimball, which was named after the Disney Animator who fostered Walt Disney’s passion for the railway. C.K. Holliday E.P. Ripley Ernest Marsh Fred Gurley Ward Kimball A Longstanding Disney Tradition A noted train enthusiast, Walt Disney built his very first railroad in his backyard. The Carolwood Pacific Railroad, a 1/8-scale train, debuted in 1950 and featured a custom-built, steam powered locomotive that encircled his property. Delighted with his miniature backyard railroad, Walt decided to share his love of trains with the whole world. The result was the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad, a favorite of Guests since the park opened in 1955. Today, railroads exist at every Disney park around the globe.
Star Tours was a motion simulator attraction at several Disney theme parks, based on the successful Star Wars film series created by George Lucas. Set in the Star Wars universe, the attraction sent guests on a excursion trip to Endor, whilst being caught in an altercation between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire. The attraction featured Captain "Rex" RX-24 along with series regulars, R2-D2 and C-3PO.At its debut at Disneyland in 1987, it was the first attraction based on a non-Disney licensed intellectual property. The first incarnation of the ride appeared in Tomorrowland at Disneyland in 1987, replacing the previous attraction, Adventure Thru Inner Space. The attraction had subsequent openings at Tokyo Disneyland, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disneyland Paris.The attraction at Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios closed in 2010 to allow conversion for its successor attraction, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. The latter location was completed on May 20, 2011. Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris closed their versions for conversion in 2012 and 2016, marking the original ride's final run of 29 years.
