Hillel, the center for Jewish life on campus, is the largest, most exciting and most versatile organization at Boston University. Students work hard to build connections and strengthen relationships with other campus communities. They have made Hillel an integral part of BU's social, cultural, educational, political and religious life. Hillel isn't a club to join, but rather a connection to explore. Students have incredible freedom to create programming portraying their Jewish identity or their exploration of that identity. Hillel is yours to own and build or just to partake of; student involvement can be central, in policy decisions or programming, or it can simply be occasional attendance. The Boston University Castle is a Tudor Revival-style mansion owned by Boston University on Bay State Road. The school typically uses it for receptions or concerts, but also rents out The Castle to cater events and special occasions. The BU Castle achieved a small amount of fame in 2007 as a filming location for the Kevin Spacey movie 21.ArchitectureThe building was cited by architectural historian Bainbridge Bunting in his Houses of Boston's Back Bay as displaying “the most convincing medieval effect of the area.”According to Boston University, the building's founder, William Lindsey, would have been pleased by this description. Lindsey had derived his inspiration for the Castle from the great manor houses of Tudor England. "The imposing style of these medieval mansions held a special allure for Lindsey, who, besides being a successful businessman, was also a poet and playwright. His writings, such as The Severed Mantle: A romance of medieval Provence and The Red Wine of Roussillon, a blank-verse drama set in France during the Middle Ages, reveal the same fascination with the antique and the romantic that pervades the design of the Castle."HistoryThe Castle was originally built as a residence for William Lindsey, a prominent Boston businessman who made his fortune with a patented cartridge belt the British Army used during the Boer War. Plans were drawn up in 1904 and construction was completed in 1915 at a cost of more than $500,000.Shortly after the building's completion, Lindsey's eldest daughter was married in the mansion, though she and her bridegroom would later be killed while their honeymoon, aboard the ill-fated Lusitania after the boat was torpedoed by a German submarine. The grief-stricken Lindsey later constructed the magnificent Leslie Lindsey Memorial Chapel in Emmanuel Church on Newbury Street in his daughter's memory.

The Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College is a unit of Boston University. The College offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs to prepare students for both research and clinical careers in health care and the rehabilitation sciences.HistoryIn 1881, Dr. Dudley Allen Sargent founded the Sargent School of Physical Training in Cambridge, Massachusetts. During the decades that followed the establishment of the School, Dr. Sargent built a reputation as an innovator in physical conditioning and health promotion. At the Sargent School, students learned training techniques to strengthen and improve the physical capabilities of all people, including both disabled and healthy individuals. This emphasis on comprehensive health care remains a focus of the College today. Sargent College became part of Boston University in 1929, five years after Dr. Sargent's death.In the fall of 1990, BU Sargent College moved to an extensively renovated facility at 635 Commonwealth Avenue. Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 to promote excellence in scholarship and further the science of psychology. There are over 1,000 chapters of Psi Chi at senior colleges and universities in the USA and Canada; BU’s chapter was founded on April 10, 1953. The National Psi Chi Office is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is run by elected psychologists who are also Psi Chi members. Psi Chi provides academic recognition to its members and offers an atmosphere compatible with creative development.

The Music Library, located on the second floor of Mugar Memorial Library, includes books, scores, periodicals, recordings, and videos. Our facility, located on the second and third floors of the Rafik B. Hariri Building at 595 Commonwealth Avenue, provides an extensive collection of leading print and electronic resources in business, management, and related subjects. Numerous carrels, comfortable seating, and team rooms are available for study and collaboration. In addition to our holdings, we offer reference services, library classes, and individual consultations. Visit us by entering the library on the third floor of the building.
