Cooper's famous Old Time Pit Bar-b-que looks forward to it's first Austin location at 217 Congress, opening in the fall of 2014. Celebrating the history of Congress Avenue in the early 20th century, Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-b-que will bring great food, live music and local flare to downtown Austin. The building: 217-221 Congress has an incredible history we can't wait to bring alive in the renovated space. The 200 block of Congress has been the home to several pubs, saloons, cafes and restaurants over the years including the Bradshaw Saloon, Pearlhouse Saloon, Tradewinds Lounge, The Dew Drop, Avenue Cafe, Las Manitas and Copa Lounge. Across the street was home to the International and Great Northern Rail Road Depot, built in 1888. The upstairs space at 217 was once the Travis Hotel, rumored to have been a cat house in years past! We plan to restore the facade to its original state to honor the location's eclectic history. Cooper's will feature a live music stage, a rooftop garden, and a beautiful oak-shaded back patio. Cooper's is bringing the food, feel and history of Texas to the table in the fall of 2014. We look forward to you joining us.

Three Generations of fine Texas barbecue has lead to the creation of Blue Ribbon Barbecue. It all started back in 1945 when my grandfather, Rudy Mikeska, opened up his first barbecue restaurant in Taylor, Tx. His barbecue was world famous feeding governors, senators, presidents and even royalty for over 50 years. My Mother, Mopsie Mikeska Cavo worked with him for 35 years. She owned and operated his restaurant and catering business until she sold it in 1997 to open her own catering business, called Catering By Mopsie. With over 45 years of barbecue and catering to the Austin area, Catering By Mopsie is one of the top catering business in the country. Working with my grandfather and mother for 21 years has not only given me tremendous experience and knowledge but also a passion and love for the business. Now, as a third generation of a barbecue dynasty, Blue Ribbon Barbecue is born.

MiJo’s tex-mex & cantina is owned and operated by Claudia Caballero and a sister-restaurant of both Panchito’s Mexican Restaurant and Pericos Mexican Cuisine. Panchito’s is owned and operated by Roy and Evelyn Reyes. Pericos Mexican Cuisine is owned and operated by Russell Reyes. For the past 30 years the Reyes family has provided its guests in San Antonio true authentic Mexican food, famous homemade flour and corn tortillas and outstanding service. Claudia is bringing the same great recipes, with an Austin twist! MiJo’s tex-mex & cantina is named after two very special children, Mia Caballero and Jordan Russell. Mia and Jordan are Claudia’s niece and nephew. They are her brother’s children. The restaurant is specifically named after both children, Mi for Mia and Jo for Jordan.
