The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS) consists of the George E. The University Neuropsychiatric Institute, located in University of Utah Research Park in Salt Lake City, is a 120 bed mental health and substance abuse treatment institute for psychiatric treatment. They provide inpatient, day treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults.HistoryBetween 1988 and 1995, Dr. Jack Madsen and Dr. Rich Ferre worked to provide mental health/behavioral treatment and epilepsy under one building. Dr. Doug Gray and Dr. David Nilsen, among other doctors, became involved and the Neurobehavior Clinic began. It later moved to Research Park at the University of Utah.In the mid 1990s, Dr Scott Stiefel and Dr. Rick Zaharia obtained increased funding from the Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) to expand clinical services.The UNI HOME Project was started in 2000 as a coordinated care program between medical and mental health funding streams for people with development disabilities.In July 2005, the clinic moved to 650 Komas Drive. The Neurobehavior HOME program serves over 900 people of all ages who have developmental disabilities, with over 750 people enrolled in the HOME Program.In 2009 HOME collaborated with the Health Clinics of Utah to expand its service locations to include Ogden.In July 2010, it was announced that the institute would be expanded to house an additional twenty to thirty beds.By January 2012, the new building was fully complete and operational. Included was a wing dedicated to mood disorders, another acute unit, and a marked increase in the capacity of the youth floor.

Trauma is an injury caused by a physical force, and is considered a surgical disease. Most often it is a consequence of motor vehicle crashes, falls, drowning, gun shots, fire, stabbings, or blunt assault . Trauma kills more people between the ages of 1 and 44 than any other disease or illness. Nearly 100,000 people of all ages in the United States die from trauma each year. Half of them in automobile crashes. Trauma care is a team effort! Our eight Surgeons are Board Certified in Surgery and Critical Care, and are members of the American Associate of Surgery for Trauma. Our team also includes four Midlevel Providers (NP's and PA's), a Trauma Program Manager, a Injury Prevention & Outreach Coordinator, and Trauma Registrars. We are all committed to providing our individual expertise to ensure the best possible care for those who are severely injured. As an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Level I Trauma Center, and one of the top 5 Academic Hospitals in the US in Quality, we have an entire team to help injured patients get back to the things they love. Our specialty services include Specialized Burn Care, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery and On-Site Physical Medicine (Rehabilitation). University Hospital's excellent Nursing Services, dedicated Social Workers (Crisis Counseling), and our Physical, Occupational and Speech (Cognitive and swallow) Therapists care for patients while they are in the hospital. AirMed was established in 1972 as the eighth air medical transport program in the nation. We fly trauma, burns, medical, pediatric, balloon pump, and high-risk OB patients 24 hours a day with five helicopters and two airplanes placed throughout northern Utah and Wyoming. We use the most state-of-the-art equipment available, which includes digital capnography, invasive line management, and intra-aortic balloon pump transports. We utilize cutting-edge airway technology including video laryngoscopy, advanced portable ventilators, and a variety of adjuncts for securing difficult or complex airways. Needs Beyond Medicine is a nonprofit organization with a mission to decrease the burden of cancer by increasing awareness, education, and relief to cancer patients. Needs Beyond Medicine is focused in an effort to offer assistance toward enhancing the quality of life for those diagnosed with cancer through educational and financial support. Relief Program Needs Beyond Medicine Relief Program create financial assistance grants for cancer patients that can be used for living expenses not classified as medical expenses. Living expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, transportation costs, and more. These grants bring much needed relief to adults facing the fight of their life. Educational Programs Needs Beyond Medicine offers educational programs to raise awareness of various types of cancers. The emphasis of our educational programs is to help the general population understand the warnings and signs to early detection of cancer. All of Needs Beyond Medicine’s educational seminars are free to the public and offer basic information on early detection. canSURVIVE Annual Needs Beyond Medicine gallery stroll featuring portraits of Salt Lake-area cancer survivors, both those who have beaten the disease and those who are currently undergoing treatment. The Ballroom Dance Company at the U focuses on formation and theatrical ballroom dance. Auditions are open to all students and also some non-students at the start of every semester. We perform at Crimson Nights, Rock the U, and at an end of the year showcase or competition, and also in the community in nursing homes and schools. These talented students put on amazing emotion-provoking dance pieces ranging in mood and energy. Dances performed include waltz, cha cha, swing, quickstep, samba, tango, paso dobe, foxtrot, hustle, viennese waltz, etc, the list is endless!

Violence and Sexual Abuse are continuously growing. We are dedicated to fight back, and end the abuse. Education is our greatest tool and we plan to use it by making everyone aware of the ugly truth that Rape, Domestic Violence, Child abuse and all other forms of violence are happening right in our neighborhoods. We aim to inform the community by giving voice to survivors of violence. and show people how they can advocate, and do something to stop Violence in society. Everyone needs to band together to expose these hidden acts. We are a team that is determined to do just that. The more that is known the less violence will spread. Tell everyone dont perpetuate or allow violence to spread in our community.
