This is a community supported agriculture (CSA) program that will partner with local farmers to supply you with quality, local produce. Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Here are the basics: a farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season. A share consists of a crate of produce harvested weekly by local farmers. The variety and amount available each week depends on seasonality and the farmers' yield. A full share is $850 ($35.41/week) and a half share is $550 ($22.91/week). Keep in mind that the idea of this program is to support local farmers who practice agriculturally sustainable methods. Every Thursday between 11:30am and 6pm, shareholders hand-select their produce from our farmers’ market shelf at Fresh Gatherings Cafe. Shareholders will be given a small sheet outlining what was gathered that week and where it came from. Any non-claimed CSA produce will be donated to a local charity - such as Campus Kitchen. The iconic cities of the world have defining characteristics that are instantly recognizable. Dense urban cores, vibrant arts and diverse cultural communities, and cheap and efficient public transportation are features which keep cities like New York, Chicago, and London on the map. That vibrancy one feels, the humming electricity in the air when wandering the streets of a cosmopolitan city, is the Human Current. We raise the voltage of the Human Current through people-centric design dedicated to improving access to resources in a few key areas: education, sustainability, and transit. Though we will also be selling some home goods and other retail products, our community building practice - Citizen Carpentry - will hold classes through Dabble and offer discounts to Cowry Collective Timebanking members. We are dedicated to promoting alternative economic models and decentralizing production away from big box stores. Sourcing materials locally as well as upcycling reduces transportation costs and keeps material out of landfills, which helps to reduce our carbon footprint.
In 2009, KIPP Inspire Academy opened with 80 fifth graders and one promise: that we would do whatever it takes to help our students climb the mountain to and through college. Seven years later, we continue to make-and keep-that promise, now serving nearly 960 students in four schools. With the support of our sponsor, Washington University in St. Louis, KIPP St. Louis eventually plans to serve more than 2,600 students in six schools. KIPP St. Louis enrolls students from every zip code in the city, and aims to bring the opportunity for quality education to those students living in areas without access to high-performing schools. Ninety-eight percent of our students are African-American, 96 percent qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and 13 percent qualify for special education services.

The Writers Table workshops meet once a week for four weeks. Each workshop is 90 minutes long and structured in a 30/30/30 format. Thirty minutes will be spent discussing an assigned short story and how its elements inform that workshop's particular lesson. Thirty minutes will be spent in lecture when the instructor teaches an engaging lesson using story examples, multi-media, and a carefully prepared talk on the particular elements being covered in that workshop. Thirty minutes will be used for in-class writing in which the students will be given specifically designed prompts, write from them using what was covered that workshop, and receive immediate feedback from the instructor on their writing and, if they chose, other students in the class.
