Steak ‘n Shake was founded in February, 1934 in Normal, Illinois. Gus Belt, Steak ‘n Shake’s founder, pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milk shakes. The Steak 'n Shake name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word “steak” stood for STEAKBURGER. The term “shake” stood for hand-dipped MILK SHAKES. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. To prove his point that his burgers were exceptionally prime, he would wheel in a barrel of steaks (including round, sirloin, and T-bones) and grind the meat into burgers right in front of the guests. Hence arose the origin of our famous slogan, “In Sight It Must Be Right.” After 79 years, we are continuing Steak n Shake’s tradition of serving the country’s best, freshest, and tastiest burgers and shakes.

Our Pit Masters, Dennis Machado and Fernando Ordonez have a combined 39 years experience doing barbecue right, in the traditional way: fine quality meats dry-seasoned and smoked low-and-slow over selected hardwoods. So what is our difference? We have lived in South City and have operated small businesses righthere for most of our lives! So, we have a PASSION to bring to our neighborhood, the very BEST barbecue from all about the country, through our attention to detail. We even make our own barbecue sauces and side items fresh in-house every single day!
The owner of Corner Bistro is a former server with 12 years experience in the restaurant business. Corner Bistro is a direct representation of the fresh and enticing foods that the owner wants the public to experience. We strive to use fresh ingredients and a homemade cooking technique to perfect our menu and cater to our customers' needs. Menu items include bruschetta, hand-made 12" pizzas, traditional calzones, toasted ravioli, variety of paninis, Buffalo chicken wings, lasagna, spaghetti marinara, Buffalo chicken wrap, Bistro burger and Nutella crépes.
Since we opened our first restaurant in Boardman, OH, in 1964, we’ve been serving quality meats on handcrafted sandwiches.
