Sept 23rd-25th & Sept 30th-Oct 2nd. The origin of Oktoberfest can be traced back to October 12, 1810, the wedding day of Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Against tradition, the couple invited Munich’s common people to the festivities. The events were held over five days on the fields in front of the city gates now called Theresienwiese (Theresa’s Meadow). Forty thousand people showed up for the celebration. A year later, they decided to throw the party all over again as an anniversary tribute to the royal couple. And so the tradition began…
Located steps from the 16th Street Mall and the Denver Performing Arts Complex, the restaurant’s sunny front windows look out onto busy Curtis Street. The décor will reflect Baur’s enduring elegance, taking guests back in time. Old, decorative tile floors are being exposed and an original chandelier still twinkles. Spira even tracked down a large, ornate cabinet from the candy shop at a local yoga studio. With the Baur’s legacy in mind, Spira began the hunt for a tenant who could connect Baur’s past with modern sensibilities–and is thrilled about opening a restaurant with a historic name. Enter Dory Ford, the proprietor of Baur’s, Est. 1872. A successful chef, restaurateur and businessman from California’s Central Coast, Ford focuses on sustainability and seasonality in his food for AQUA TERRA Culinary. Expect the menu for Baur’s, Est. 1872, crafted along with executive chef Robert Grant, to center on timeless classics. New seating in the restaurant will largely be movable, accommodating various configurations for music performances. The M/A/S music program aims to give a stage to smaller ensembles in genres that often lack exposure: chamber music, jazz, solo piano and more. Two performance rooms can host CD release parties, ticketed performances and private events. One of the rooms is gracefully separated from the larger restaurant space with stately French doors. Inside, the room’s high ceiling creates gorgeous acoustics for intimate music performances. Ample seating options and audio/video capabilities make the room a perfect place for meetings, luncheons, and gatherings of all kinds. http://www.baursmagic.com http://www.twitter.com/baursmagic http://www.facebook.com/BaursListeningLounge
The Pedal Hopper, known as a "Party Bike" or "Bike Bar," is a group-oriented activity similar to a party bus, but is entirely pedal-powered by you and all of your friends. It is a safe, fun way to do a pub crawl, celebrate a birthday, bachelor/bachelorette parties, weddings, tailgating, you name it! The Pedal Hopper holds up to 16 people (that's 15 seated and one "standee" in the middle as your "bartender"), and cruises at an average of about 5-8mph, the perfect speed for sharing good times. To ensure safety, we provide a driver who steers and brakes the thing so you guys can relax and have fun.
The Denver Patio Ride has ten sets of pedals which directly power the four wheeler around town at a blazing five miles an hour. Two additional bike seats and the three person bench in back are effort free, pedal-less spots for those who prefer to lounge or take a break. We do the steering and braking, so you just pedal and rock out to your favorite tunes with our solar powered sound system and hit our favorite spots around town. We have a cooler on board for guests to bring food and drink if desired. Bring your own iPod/CD for the perfect patio playlist, or leave it up to our excellent musical taste. We specialize in bar crawls and have worked hard to provide a great guided route in the LoDo/ Ballpark/ RiNO area of downtown. Billy's Gourmet Hot Dogs on Broadway and Larimer is our main hub, and he offers free parking as well. Billy's also has selection of great local beers and the best hotdogs and fries in the state! Sit inside and watch the game or on the patio, then start your crawl! Each bar has a drink deal just for your group. Some of the bars on our route include The Matchbox, Walnut Room, Mile High Spirits, and Meadowlark in the RiNO neighborhood. Gin Mill, Retro Room, Breckenridge Ball Park Brew, Zi South, and River North Brewery, are our favorites in the LoDo part of town. Pub crawlin' is great, but the Patio can potentialy be used for other social events as well. A day in the park, homecoming parade ride, restaurant samplers, or even just exercise! Brainstorm your ideal ride and give us a call so we can help brainstorm, too!
