History The Tenderloin Clinic first opened its doors in October 1975, with a mandate to provide outpatient mental health services to adult residents of the Tenderloin. Initially located at 200 Golden Gate, the Clinic was a component of the Community Care Center of Northeast Community Mental Health, Inc. It moved to its present location in 2004. The Clinic has been administered by a number of agencies over the years, most recently the Bayview Hunters Point Foundation. In July of 2003, the Clinic became an independent program of the Hyde Street Community Services, Inc. Over the years, despite changes in location, administration, and staff, the Clinic has maintained a reputation for quality services, continually anticipating and adapting to the changing needs of the population it serves. After over ten years of operation, the clinic now serves over 700 clients. The Tenderloin Clinic provides an array of services built on a model of comprehensive care. Using a team approach to treatment, a multi-disciplinary staff works together to address the often complex problems of the client population. Adhering to a philosophy of providing integrated services, the Clinic welcomes individuals with co-morbid substance abuse problems and addresses those issues in both individual and group treatment. Assessment All clients receive a comprehensive initial evaluation and assessment to determine an individualized plan of care. Individual Treatment Individual treatment is available in a variety of formats: brief, problem-focused therapy, long-term therapy and supportive counseling. Group Treatment Group treatment varies according to client interest and need, but may include: Social Skills, Dual Diagnosis, Symptom Management, Wellness & Recovery, Women's and Men's Groups, Vocational Support and others. Medications Medication evaluations, monitoring and maintenance are provided by a team of Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners and Licensed Psychiatric Technicians. Full Service Partnership Depending on need, supportive case management, advocacy and referral services are available to all clients. Intensive case management and treatment with the FSP Team is provided to those individuals with more complex case management needs which must be addressed to maintain and enhance community functioning. Urgent Care During all hours of operation, staff are available to registered clients for urgent care including emergency, psychiatric medications and crisis intervention. Arab/ muslim services Culturally sensitive services are available to the Arab and Muslim population of San Francisco. Treatment is provided in Arabic for monolingual clients.
