The Goals of the Green Bay Wisconsin TEA Party are the promotion of: 1. The restoration of the Republic to the form defined in the Articles of the Constitution. Repeal of any and all laws, regulations, executive orders, resolutions, and ordinances that conflict with the Constitution or are based on powers not enumerated in the Constitution. 2. Reassertion of the preeminence of the sovereignty of the States over the federal government as stipulated by the 10th Amendment in the Bill of Rights. 3. Achieving total transparency and accountability in all levels of government - the people should have the ability to read and comment on all bills before a legislative body votes on the bill. Elimination of all earmarks and bill amendments - if the idea is worthwhile, it should be worthy of its own bill. Requirement by law that all government officials at all levels are to be subject to the same laws that are passed by those legislative bodies. 4. Demolishing the growing, socialist "nanny state" and its programs and legislation, reinstituting personal responsibility and the traditional values of work, merit, integrity, honesty, innovation, accountability, civic participation and civility. 5. Correcting the perspective of the Supreme Court to a centrist, originalist interpretation of the Constitution that terminates the power expanding, flip-flopping, judicial activism associated with the view of the Constitution as a "living document" which complies with international and foreign law. Reaffirmation that the first and foremost obilgation of the Supreme Court is to protect the people's and states' constitutional rights by restricting the scope and power of the federal government, thus protecting the lives, liberty and property of the American people. Five years ago, The Avenue was born with a vision to create a dynamic non-profit radio station, dedicated to giving nonprofits unprecedented access to the airwaves for the greater good of our community. Fueled by an independent spirit, and by the generosity of our members and corporate business partners who believe in our mission, we have continued to provide a strong voice for basic human needs and other nonprofit services, while offering a mix of music that’s simply not available anywhere else. In just 5 years, The Avenue has grown into a proven community asset. Hundreds of letters from local nonprofit organizations give testament to the value of our mission. We are independent, nonprofit, community, radio. Independent: As an independent station, not tied to a conglomerate or corporate headquarter of radio stations, The Avenue operates as a single entity. We get no government funding and must raise all the funds to meet our operating expenses. Our music is also independent. We are not tied to a dictated group of songs – we play local, regional and national artists based on a finely tuned style and sound unlike any other playlist. Because we are independent, we are free to pursue what the community needs, when it’s needed. From music to messaging to current topics affecting Northeastern Wisconsin, we can always be on the cutting edge of what’s next. This allows us to be in-tune and effective for the people and nonprofits in our listening area. Nonprofit: The Avenue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and as such, every donation is tax-deductible. As a nonprofit, we have all the expenses of a nonprofit organization, plus the expenses of a radio station. Examples of radio station expenses include: On-air hosts, music licensing, tower leasing fees and radio broadcast and studio equipment maintenance and purchase as well as staff remuneration for broadcast engineers, on-air traffic specialists, copy writers, board operators etc. You might have heard that “The Avenue now reaches 1 million hearts.” We’ve made the significant financial investment to increase our radio broadcast power so that the Avenue can now throughout Northeast Wisconsin and be of service to a greater number of nonprofits. We operate with a lean, small staff of essential employees, skilled in radio and working with the needs of nonprofits. Community: The Avenue is a strong thread that ties the community together as a tapestry, blanketing the community for the greater good. It’s a place that people can turn to 24/7, seven days a week for on-going information about community resources, events, and needs. Much like the “town square” from days gone by, all of Northeastern Wisconsin now has central place to understand what is currently happening with area nonprofits. The Avenue fills a vital need – uniting everyone in a common place at 91.1 The Avenue and through AvenueRadio.com. It’s a radio station that has grown into a proven community asset. Music breaks down barriers and unites. The combination of music and mission brings our ever-growing area together as no one else can. People believe in The Avenue; they tell us that, day after day and they support us by becoming Avenue Members. Radio: The Avenue is a “bullhorn”, a “mouthpiece” because it’s a radio station. It’s always available at no cost to anyone, anywhere, and anytime, accessible 24/7. Statistically we know that The Avenue has a very high “TSL”, or time spent listening. Our listeners don’t dial hop, and after being introduced to the idea of music and mission, The Avenue becomes their foundation for music and information, including how to connect and support nonprofits. Encompass operates 7 licensed child care locations in Green Bay and De Pere serving over 700 children each day. Six Encompass centers are nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Less than 5% of Wisconsin child care centers achieve this designation. Encompass also participates in YoungStar, which is Wisconsin's Child Care Rating Program. YoungStar is a five-star quality rating and improvement system for child care in Wisconsin. Welcome to the Miracle League of Green Bay Welcome to the Miracle League of Green Bay, made possible largely by the generosity of Green Bay's Dick Resch, after whom our field is named, "Resch Miracle Field", and by former Green Bay Packer Brett Favre & wife Deanna, for whom our recreation area is named, the "Favre Family Miracle Recreation Area". The Allouez Optimists Miracle League of Green Bay is a non-profit organization that provides children with mental and/or physical challenges, ages 4 to 19 years, an opportunity to play baseball as a team member, with real uniforms, in an organized league, regardless of their capabilities. Founded in 2006, it is one of only two Miracle League programs in the state of Wisconsin to-date, with the other being in Kenosha. League History Dylan can’t walk but that doesn’t stop him from rounding second base. Jennifer has Down Syndrome, but the Miracle League has given her more self-esteem than her parents ever dreamed possible. Kaliegh can’t hear, but the cheers of his teammates have never been louder. These children are among the 5.2 million in our country with disabilities. The Miracle League gives hundreds of disabled children something few dreamed possible, the chance to play baseball. Yet in all their joy and triumph, there’s still one thing missing - the ability to play the sport like everyone else. First Ever Baseball Complex for Children with Disabilities opens in Conyers, GA. The idea of building specially equipped baseball fields was born in Georgia when a boy in a wheelchair showed up to play in a youth baseball program. One of the coaches took the boy as a member of his team. After that, Georgia's Rockdale Youth Baseball Association organized games for 35 players with special needs. Soon it became evident that, while the idea was extremely well received by the children and their families, conventional baseball fields were inadequate for children with disabilities. The grassy turf was very difficult for their wheelchairs, walkers and braces to navigate, and bumps and irregular surface made moving around awkward and dangerous. This spawned the idea to build a field with a special surface that was safe and easy to navigate for those with disabilities. Dean Alford, and the Rotary Clubs of Rockdale County and Conyers, GA. stepped forward to form the Rotary Miracle League Fund to raise money to build a special complex of facilities. A field was designed with a custom synthetic turf and handicapped accessible dugouts, restrooms and drinking fountains. This was the beginning of what is now called "The Miracle League". Physically and mentally challenged children are paired with able-bodied volunteer "buddies" who assist them in batting catching, throwing and running. Every child gets a turn at bat and in the outfield, and every child gets across home plate. The point of the game is less about baseball and more about fun! The benefits gained by everyone involved are tremendous. The child's self esteem grows, they make friends, become less isolated and "just become a regular kid, not a kid with a disability."
