McTeague, the novel, is the story of a young dentist of questionable character who opens a practice on lower Polk Street in the early 1900s. Upon entering the Lush Lounge you will be welcomed by a cozy fireplace that sits against an exposed brick wall. Our spacious interior with exposed beamed ceilings and sliding front windows allows for a very open airy feel. The bar interior is constructed out of reclaimed wood from a 150 year old farmhouse decorated with many eclectic pieces.We have a 20 seat bar along with ample table seating and plenty of standing room for the weekend crowds. The mezzanine in the rear of the space over looks the main bar and is an ideal spot to watch over the crowd below. The combination of great cocktails and beautiful decor create an ambiance that is truly unique to the Lush Lounge. The Herbst Theatre is an auditorium in the War Memorial and Performing Arts Center in Civic Center in San Francisco, California, United States. The 928-seat hall hosts programs as diverse as City Arts & Lectures, SF Jazz, and San Francisco Performances.Architecture and decorationOriginally designed as the Veterans Auditorium, the theatre was refurbished and renamed Herbst Theatre in 1977 in honor of brothers Herman and Maurice Herbst, whose foundation underwrote the renovations. It is entered through a foyer off of the building's main lobby. Eight large beaux-arts murals, created by Frank Brangwyn for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, adorn the walls while overhead five chandeliers hang from the blue and gold-leaf ceiling.United Nations CharterOn June 26, 1945, the United Nations Charter was signed on the stage of the Herbst Theatre by the group of 50 founding nations, following the two-month-long United Nations conference at the War Memorial Opera House.

The Japan Center is a shopping center in the Japantown neighborhood of San Francisco, California. It opened in March 1968 and was originally called the Japanese Cultural and Trade Center. It is composed of three malls: the Kinokuniya Mall, Kintetsu Mall, and Miyako Mall. Anchor tenants include Books Kinokuniya and Sundance Kabuki Cinema.The Fuki-ya restaurant owned by Junko and Richard K. Diran is said to have been the first Robatayaki restaurant in the United States.The architecture of the site, created by Minoru Yamasaki, has been described as "Brutalist slabwork."San Francisco's Peace Pagoda is on the Japan Center site.
The Grand Ballroom is our largest room and a beaux-art treasure. Boasting thirty-five foot ceilings, twenty-two turn-of-the-century teardrop chandeliers, blonde hardwood floors, a horseshoe-shaped balcony and a built-in stage, this room is ideal for larger banquets and receptions featuring live entertainment, your guests will be humbled by this neoclassical marvel. You can comfortably seat 450 guests with a dance floor, 500 without and can accommodate up to 1400 guests for a standing reception. I have also listed two links below showcasing some of our recent renovations including a whole new sound & lighting system as well as a photo shoot of a post event: Next in size is the Sutter Room and Annex. Cream colored walls, blonde hardwood floors, and beautifully arched and beamed ceilings make this room a memorable first impression. A versatile setting for any themed event or color palette with two built-in wooden bars, this room is perfect for both cocktail reception and main event. Sutter Room seats 350 guests with a dance floor, 400 without and can accommodate up to 600 for a standing reception. Finally, we have the Lodge Level. A true gem, The Lodge is a dramatic crimson space and magnificent example of Gothic architecture. The Lodge features stunning thirty-five foot arched open beam ceilings with dark wood paneled walls and stained glass windows. Guests will be inspired by the astonishing thirty-one hand-painted backdrops that enhance the built-in stage and a fully-functioning 1909 Austin pipe organ. The desirability of this space is enhanced by the use of two elegant side rooms. The Lodge can seat 200 guests with a dance floor (included), 240 without, and 300 reception style. The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, also known locally as Saint Mary's Cathedral, is the principal church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco in San Francisco, California. It is the mother church of the Catholic faithful in the California counties of Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo and is the metropolitan cathedral for the Ecclesiastical province of San Francisco. The rector of the cathedral is Msgr. John Talesfore.The cathedral is located in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. The present cathedral replaced one (1891-1962) of the same name. The original Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception was built in 1853-1854 and still stands today. It is now known as Old Saint Mary's Church.Second cathedralIn 1883, Archbishop Patrick W. Riordan purchased the northwest corner of Van Ness Avenue and O'Farrell Street in Western Addition. Riordan broke ground in December 1885. On May 1, 1887 the archbishop placed the cornerstone. Archbishop Riordan dedicated the edifice to Saint Mary of the Assumption on January 11, 1891. The second cathedral served the Archdiocese of San Francisco for seventy-one years. During the episcopal terms of archbishops Riordan, Edward J. Hanna and John J. Mitty. Papal Secretary of State Eugenio Cardinal Pacelli, (future Pope Pius XII) said Mass at the high altar in October 1936. On April 3, 1962, Joseph T. McGucken was installed as the fifth Archbishop of San Francisco in the cathedral on Van Ness Avenue, five months later the landmark was destroyed by arson on the night of September 7, 1962.
