The school honors the charisms on the crest and celebrates one charism on a rotating basis each year. The charisms are: Humilitas, Virtus, Scienta, and Caritas.
Vashon High School is a public high school located in St. Louis, Missouri that is part of the St. Louis Public Schools. When it opened in 1927, it was the second high school for black students in St. Louis. Since 1934, the school has won 14 state basketball championships – eight as a member of the Missouri State High School Activities Association and six as a member of the Missouri Negro Interscholastic Athletic Association.HistoryDesigned by Rockwell M. Milligan, the school opened on September 11, 1927, and it was named in honor of two African-American educators: George Boyer Vashon, the first black graduate of Oberlin College, and his son, John Boyer Vashon. Located at 3026 Laclede Avenue, construction costs were slightly less than $1.2 million. Vashon was the second high school built for black students in the St. Louis Public Schools, after Sumner High School.While at the Laclede Avenue location, Vashon's boys basketball program won six state titles as part of the Missouri Negro Interscholastic Athletic Association, in 1935, 1936, 1944, 1947, 1948, and 1949. Vashon was barred from joining the Missouri State High School Activities Association until 1949, and between 1949 and 1954, it was prohibited from participating in both MNIAA tournaments and MSHSAA state tournaments.In June 1963, the school relocated to the Hadley Vocational-Technical High School building at 3405 Bell Avenue, and the original building became part of Harris–Stowe State University. The Bell Avenue building had been constructed in the early 1930s with large shop classrooms that were subsequently divided into classrooms and offices with partition walls, causing noise problems throughout the school. Its architectural design also strongly resembled a factory, and according to a local newspaper report, "the main school building, gym and auditorium make one think the people inside might be manufacturing cars or widgets." The move was accompanied by protests in the local community and a student march against the transfer.
Sumner High School, also known as Charles H. Sumner High School, is a St. Louis public high school that was the first high school for African-American students west of the Mississippi River. Together with Vashon High School, Sumner was one of only two segregated public high schools in St. Louis City for African-American students. Established in 1875 only after extensive lobbying by some of St. Louis' African-American residents, Sumner moved to its current location in 1908.PopulationAs of the 2012–13 school year, the school had an enrollment of 576 students and 32 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 18
Metro Academic and Classical High School is a public high school in St. Louis, Missouri that is part of the St. Louis Public Schools.HistoryMetro opened in 1972 in a five-room building at 2135 Chouteau Avenue as one of the first magnet schools in the St. Louis Public Schools. In the 1970s, the school moved to the Temple Israel building at 5017 Washington Boulevard, and in 1996, it moved to its current location in a purpose-built school building. In 1997, the school's founder and principal, Betty Wheeler, retired. Her replacement, Pamela Randall, served until 2003, when she entered district administration and later served as superintendent of the St. Louis Public Schools. Randall's replacement, Wilfred Doug Moore, remains the current principal of Metro High School.All Metro students are required to perform 300 hours of community service per year.Metro has been ranked among the top public high schools by Newsweek and has won national and state-level awards for quality. SWE is a non-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders. We teach about networking and how to get the support we need. Men are also welcome. We make the need for women engineers knownand encourage young women to consider an engineering education. The main objectives are: To inform young women, their parents, counselors, and the public in general of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them. To assist women engineers in readying themselves for a return to active work after temporary retirement. To serve as a center of information on women in engineering. To encourage women engineers to attain high levels of educational and professional achievement.
Human Services Club provide students interested in the field of Human Services with the opportunity to express themselves collectively speakers to present a presentation in their respective field to the members of the club, and to serve the needs of the student body of St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.

The Name The Biome reflects our belief that the learning environment is critical to student success and must be responsive to the talents and individual academic needs of children. Just as a savannah biome supports a diverse array of life and interactions, The Biome will support the diverse academic needs and abilities of our students, and will encourage meaningful interaction of students and adults who will contribute positively to the school and larger communities. Curriculum Approach The Biome will be a model for integrating student-centered learning, project-based opportunities, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) within a nurturing, academic ecosystem. The Biome’s curriculum and overall course of study will include the following core features: • Intensive provision of concentrated literacy and math instruction in the early grades; • Ongoing use of integrated/multidisciplinary units and lessons from kindergarten through grade 8; • Annual STEAM-focused and project-based thematic units, beginning in kindergarten and increasing in rigor and emphasis through grade 8; and • Year-end culminating portfolio presentations for 3rd – 8th graders. Initially, school leadership will use research-based purchased curriculum in literacy, math, science, and social studies to provide a foundation for ongoing curriculum development; however, the curriculum will ultimately be customized by experts with the aid of experienced classroom and school leaders, thereby ensuring that the curriculum remains rigorous and applicable to real-world settings. Grades Served The Biome will begin serving students in kindergarten and first grade, and will grow by one grade each year, eventually operating as a K-8 school by 2022-23. Student Benefits The Biome’s students will be dynamic and creative thinkers, working within an innovative environment with expert classroom leaders in whole- and small-group settings to first develop the core math and literacy skills that serve as prerequisites for ongoing learning, and then apply these skills in progressively challenging and aligned lessons and projects. A strong foundation of literacy and math in the early grades (K-2) will ensure that The Biome’s students will be prepared to engage in accelerated STEAM coursework and projects, culminating in students leaving The Biome with a portfolio of work exemplifying their experience and learning over the course of nine years. Students will benefit from a school climate that respects and nurtures their individuality, while enabling them to grow in confidence through real, measurable achievement. The Biome’s students will graduate from 8th grade well-exposed to STEAM coursework and careers, comfortable with and energized by interacting with a variety of stakeholders in their community, and on track to thrive in high school.

Stix Early Childhood Center is a SLPS magnet school that serves children from the St. Louis metro area in grades P3-2nd. (3rd-5th graders continue on to Humboldt Academy of Higher Learning which continues to build on the constructivist teaching style.)
