The New York Gauchos Our Mission Our mission is to prepare, develop and nurture the full academic and athletic potential of every kid who participates in the Gauchos basketball program. We strive to provide the best competitive basketball experience for kids who want to pursue a college education. Our History (1967- ) Teamwork Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization which manages the basketball program known as the "New York Gauchos", founded 43 years ago as an adjunct of the Westside YMCA by Louis d' Almeida, an advertising executive who had come as a young man from Argentina to seek education in the United States. He later found that education at Yale University. Teamwork Foundation, Inc. at first glance, might seem to be a strange appellation to give a program concerned with helping a segment of inner city children for whom so many programs have failed. Yet that name is at the very heart of a program that has become unique in its success during its more then 40 years of life. Program Description Louis d' Almeida, Executive Director has said, '(The kids) love it, they do it well and it teaches them. It's not a classroom setting but they learn structure, discipline, teamwork and all the other things that will help make good solid citizens. Basketball is an activity that gives them real satisfaction; a rare commodity in their lives". To participate in The Gaucho program, boys and girls must live within the five boroughs of New York City and must be enrolled in school from September through June. Everyday after school and all weekend long several hundred boys and girls come to the Gauchos gym where they are taught the fundamentals of basketball, participate in team workouts, and have fun. The Gauchos Gym is open seven days a week except for major national and religious holidays. The Gauchos program serves 500 kids annually through its travel team programs and with its Weekend Development program.

Rucker Park is a basketball court in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, at 155th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard across the street from the former Polo Grounds site; it is geographically at the base of a large cliff named Coogan's Bluff. Many who played at the park in the Rucker Tournament achieved a level of fame for their abilities, and several have gone on to play in the NBA.Rucker Park was featured in the TNT television film On Hallowed Ground: Streetball Champions of Rucker Park, which aired in 2000 and won a Sports Emmy Award.HistoryThe court is named after Holcombe Rucker, a local teacher and a playground director for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Rucker started a basketball tournament in 1950 in order to help less-fortunate kids stay off the streets and aim for college careers. The players in the Rucker Tournament featured slam dunks, crossover dribbles, and bravado that excited the crowd, a playing style then foreign to the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The New York Yankees Museum is a sports museum located at Yankee Stadium on the main level at Gate 6. It is sponsored and presented by Bank of America and is dedicated to baseball memorabilia for the New York Yankees. It is a key attraction at the stadium, which opened in 2009.DevelopmentWhen the Yankees developed the new stadium, the museum was in its plans. Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión, Jr. called for the museum to function as a "Cooperstown South".FeaturesA "Ball Wall" features hundreds of balls autographed by past and present Yankees, and there are plans to eventually add autographs for every living player who has played for the Yankees. The Yankees Ball Finder, a touch-screen computer in the museum, allows the viewer to look for Yankees alphabetically to find the location of their ball on the "Ball Wall".The centerpiece of the museum is a tribute to Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series, with a commemorative home plate in the floor and statues of Larsen pitching to Yogi Berra. Along with a facsimile of a current locker from the Yankees' clubhouse, fans can view the locker of the late Thurman Munson, which sat unoccupied in the previous stadium's Yankee clubhouse in honor of Munson.
