ARTIST’S STATEMENT MICHELLE WELLS – STUDIO IN BLOOM Michelle Wells is a St. Louis, Missouri based jewelry designer and hand crafter who specializes in pieces that incorporate wirework. Her affinity for working with wire began in college at Washington University School of Architecture, where she often used wire in her designs, models and sculptural pieces as a vehicle for expressing movement and growth. As her artistic expression evolved into the world of jewelry, she continued to use wire to create a sense of movement & growth in her wearable art pieces. All of her necklaces and rings utilize non-tarnishing silver plated wire & either silver plated or pewter findings, along with natural stone and freshwater pearls. Her earrings utilize non-tarnishing silver filled wire with silver plated, nickel & lead free, metal ear hooks, along with natural stone and freshwater pearls.
