Strawberry Fields is a 2.5-acre (1.0 ha) landscaped section in New York City's Central Park that is dedicated to the memory of former Beatle John Lennon. It is named after the Beatles' song "Strawberry Fields Forever" written by Lennon. __notoc__DescriptionDesignThe Central Park memorial was designed by Bruce Kelly, the chief landscape architect for the Central Park Conservancy. Strawberry Fields was dedicated on what would have been Lennon's 45th birthday, October 9, 1985, by New York Mayor Ed Koch and Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, who had underwritten the project. The entrance to the memorial is located on Central Park West at West 72nd Street, directly across from the Dakota Apartments, where Lennon had lived for the latter part of his life, and where he was murdered in 1980. The memorial is a triangular piece of land falling away on the two sides of the park, and its focal point is a circular pathway mosaic of inlaid stones, with a single word, the title of Lennon's famous song: "Imagine". This was a gift from the city of Naples, Italy. Along the borders of the area surrounding the mosaic are benches which are endowed in memory of other individuals and maintained by the Central Park Conservancy. Along a path toward the southeast, a plaque on a low glaciated outcropping of schist lists the nations which contributed to building the memorial. Yoko Ono, who still lives in The Dakota, contributed over a million dollars for the landscaping and the upkeep endowment.

The Delacorte Theater is a 1,800-seat open-air theater located in Central Park, in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Belvedere Castle is a folly in Central Park in Manhattan, New York City. It contains exhibit rooms and an observation deck, and since 1919, the folly has also been the location of the official Central Park weather station.Belvedere Castle was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in the late 1800s. An architectural hybrid of Gothic and Romanesque styles, Vaux's design called for a more weighty Manhattan schist and granite structure with a corner tower with conical cap, with the existing lookout over parapet walls between them. To reduce costs it was revised in November 1870, and completed under the new Tammany Hall regime as an open painted-wood pavilion.Belvedere means "beautiful view" or "panoramic view" in Italian.DesignBelvedere Castle was originally built as a shell with open doorway and window openings. Starting in 1919, it housed the New York Meteorological Observatory, which had been taken over by the United States Weather Bureau in 1912. The current weather station in Central Park, an Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), is located immediately south of the castle, though wind equipment is still located on the main tower. The two fanciful wooden pavilions deteriorated without painting and upkeep and were removed before 1900.
The Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola is a Roman Catholic parish church located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City, administered by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). The parish is under the authority of the Archdiocese of New York, and was established in 1851 as St. Lawrence O'Toole's Church. In 1898, permission to change the patron saint of the parish from St. Lawrence O’Toole to St. Ignatius of Loyola was granted by Rome. The address is 980 Park Avenue, New York City, New York 10028. The church on the southwest corner of Park Avenue and 84th Street is part of a Jesuit complex on the block that includes Wallace Hall, the parish hall, beneath the church, the rectory at the midblock location on Park Avenue, the grade school of St. Ignatius's School on the north midblock location of 84th Street behind the church and the high school of Loyola School (also 980 Park Avenue) at the northwest corner of Park Avenue and 83rd Street. In addition, another Jesuit high school, Regis High School (55 E 84th Street), occupies the midblock location on the north side of 84th Street. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 24, 1980.
The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre was imported to the U.S. in 1876 as Sweden’s exhibit for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. The Swedish architecture and craftsmanship of the structure, suggestive of a model schoolhouse, caught the eye of Frederick Law Olmsted, who brought it to Central Park in 1877.Beginning in 1947, the cottage served as the home of a marionette theater troupe that traveled across the city performing on playgrounds and school auditoriums. Under the direction of City Parks Foundation, citywide puppet shows in parks continue to this day through the CityParks PuppetMobile, the oldest continually operating company of its kind in the country, which presents free performances and puppet-making workshops in neighborhood parks, recreation centers and schools throughout New York City.In 1973 a permanent theater was constructed inside the cottage designed for marionette performances. Since then, hundreds of thousands of children and families from around the world have enjoyed its original marionette productions. The cottage is a member of the Historic House Trust of New York City. The mustard-olive colored carved stone is New Brunswick sandstone, with a harder stone for cappings, with granite steps and landings, and herringbone paving of Roman brick laid on edge.Bethesda Terrace became a site for an outdoor luncheon restaurant at the end of the 1960s, then became a congregating spot for the Hair generation before devolving into a drug-trafficking venue in the 1970s. The fountain, which had been dry for decades, was restored in its initial campaign, 1980–81, by the Central Park Conservancy as the centerpiece of its plan to renovate Central Park. The Terrace, designed by Vaux with sculptural decoration by Mould, was restored in the following season, its stonework disassembled, cleaned, deteriorated surfaces removed, restored and patched and reset.Resodding, and fifty new trees, 3,500 shrubs and 3,000 ground cover plants specified by Philip Winslow followed in 1986, most of which, having matured into dense blocks, were removed in 2008, to make way for plants native to the United States. The Minton encaustic tiles of the ceiling of the arcade between the flanking stairs, designed by Mould, were removed in 1987, cleaned, restored, completed with additional new tiles and reinstalled in 2007.

The Unitarian Church of All Souls at 1157 Lexington Avenue at East 80th Street in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City was built in 1932 and was designed by Herbert Upjohn - Richard Upjohn's grandson - in the Neo-colonial style with a Regency-influenced brick base. It is the congregation's fourth sanctuary. It was the first Unitarian Universalist congregation in the city. It has provided a pulpit for some of the movement's leading theologians and has also recorded many eminent persons in its membership.
Temple Israel is a Reform congregation in Manhattan. It was incorporated in 1873 by German Jews.It purchased its first synagogue building Fifth Avenue and 125th Street in 1887, constructed its own at 201 Lenox Avenue and 120th Street in 1907, and constructed another at 210 West 91st Street in 1920. Its current Brutalist style building, at 112 East 75th Street on the Upper East Side, was completed in 1967.Since its founding, Temple Israel has been served by only five senior rabbis: Maurice Harris, William Rosenblum, Martin Zion, Judith Lewis, and David Gelfand ., its senior rabbi is Gelfand, and its cantor is Irena Altshul.Early historyTemple Israel was incorporated in 1873 as Yod b'Yod congregation by German Jews. An early trustee was Cyrus L. Sulzberger, father of New York Times publisher Arthur Hays Sulzberger. The members were typically shopkeepers, traditionally observant, and first worshiped above a printing shop on East 125th Street in Harlem. They soon established a Hebrew school called "Gates of Learning" for the 45 children of the congregation. The congregation rented a larger space on 124th Street in 1874, and in 1876 leased a former church on 116th Street, between First Avenue and Second Avenue. In 1880, the congregation purchased the building on 116th Street.
The Hewitt School is an independent, K-12 girls school in New York City, New York. The school serves girls from Kindergarten through 12th Grade, in three divisions: Lower School (K-3), Middle School (4-8), and Upper School (9-12).HistoryCaroline D. Hewitt founded the Hewitt School in 1920. Miss Hewitt, as alumnae lovingly refer to her, was born in England and educated there. She came to the United States in 1902 as a private tutor or governess to a prominent family of Tuxedo Park, New York. After a decade in that position and at the suggestion of the Hoffman family Miss Hewitt began private classes for children in a townhouse on the Upper East Side. At this time the school was referred to as Miss Hewitt Classes and highly sought after by New York City’s pre-war elite. By 1920, Hewitt had established a small kindergarten for boys and girls located at the Mannes Music School. In 1923 Hewitt purchased a brownstone at 68 East 79th Street. The school expanded and began to cater exclusively to girls.In 1942 Miss Hewitt retired and was succeeded by faculty member Charlotte Comfort. In 1950 the school was granted a charter as a nonprofit corporation. The school moved to its current location at 45 East 75th Street in 1951. In 1955 Miss Hewitt’s Classes became The Hewitt School. In 1968 the Gregory Building, named for Board of Trustees president William Gregory, was built.In 1969 Janet Mayer succeeded Miss Comfort as Headmistress and served until her retirement eleven years later. In 1976 the Building Fund Drive added three new stories to the Gregory Building.In 1980 Agathe Crouter succeeded Miss Mayer as Headmistress and served until her retirement in 1990. In 1986 major renovation of the 75th Street Building was completed, adding classroom space and the John and Elizabeth Hobbs Performing Arts Center.

Michael Werner Gallery is an art gallery founded by Michael Werner in New York City during the year 1990. It is the U.S. extension of the German Galerie Michael Werner founded in 1963 in Berlin. A London branch opened in 2012.HistoryA high school dropout from a working-class family, Michael Werner started his career in the art world as assistant at Berlin-based Rudolf Springer Gallery in 1962. In 1963, he opened his first gallery, Werner & Katz, in Berlin, Germany with the first solo exhibition of Georg Baselitz. Galerie Michael Werner was later established in Cologne in 1969. Since then, Galerie Michael Werner has worked with represented many of the most important artists of the 20th century (see artists list).In the 1980s, Werner lived in New York and married fellow art dealer Mary Boone.
