The Bookstore is more than a place—it's an experience! In addition to more than 45,000 trade books and student textbooks, our 29,000 sq. foot store at 726 Broadway features an event space for author readings and community events, a Kid's Corner for families and young readers to lounge and browse, an enhanced clothing department with an ever-changing selection of NYU insignia merchandise, and the print on demand Espresso Book Machine.
St. Mark's Bookshop was established in 1977 in New York City's East Village, a community of students, academics, artists, and other discerning readers. Our specialties include Cultural Theory, Graphic Design, Poetry & Small Press Publishing, Film Studies, and Foreign & Domestic Periodicals and Journals. We are open Monday through Sunday from noon until 10pm. Located at 136 East 3rd Street just west of Avenue A, in the historic First Houses building, we are convenient to the F train at the 2nd Ave station (closer to the 1st Avenue exit), the M14A Select Service Bus on A, and the M15 on 1st Ave. Nearby are also the theaters of East 4th Street, The Neighborhood School, vintage clothing stores, designer boutiques, import shops, gift and specialty shops, as well as dozens of cafes, restaurants and bars.
