The Marquette University College of Engineering is one of the primary colleges at Marquette University, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The college oversees curricula related to the research and application of engineering and its various subfields.AcademicsThe college oversees the curriculum and instruction in all of the engineering-related majors offered by the university. The College of Engineering offers Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. degrees across seven majors. Modern society depends on this contribution from the civil, construction and environmental engineer, whose education is systematically developed from a strong background in mathematics and the physical and engineering sciences. The engineer must relate to society and fellow men and women and be aware of how the engineering principles can be applied for the benefit of others. Civil, construction and environmental engineers are also stewards of the land, its resources and environment. Many are involved in activities such as watershed and environmental planning, sustainable resource development and environmental protection. Civil, construction and environmental engineers design and build the infrastructure of civilization. Marquette University Department of Biological Sciences strives to promote a community of science between our faculty, undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni. Our faculty seek to provide students with a model for critical thinking where students are taught to observe, evaluate and solve problems. In our stand alone lab courses we pride ourselves on our student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1, so all of our students experience state of the art science with hands-on laboratory experiences. This close relationship between professors and students also permits flexible programming designed to meet the needs of individual students. You can concentrate on molecular biology and biochemistry, cell and developmental biology or system physiology or have a different approach by studying ecology, plant biology, neurobiology, or microbiology. St. Joan of Arc Chapel is a Roman Catholic chapel today located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, on the campus of Marquette University, in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. It was dedicated to Joan of Arc on May 26, 1966, after it had been moved from its previous location on Long Island, New York. It was originally built in the Rhône River Valley in France.HistoryIn FranceOriginally named Chapelle de St. Martin de Sayssuel, the chapel was built over several generations in the French village Chasse-sur-Rhône, south of Lyon. Estimates are that it was built around the 15th century. The building was abandoned after the French Revolution and fell into ruin. After World War I, the young architect Jacques Couëlle rediscovered the chapel and negotiated a transfer to the Brookville, New York home of Gertrude Hill Gavin, the daughter of James J. Hill, best known as the founder of the Great Northern Railway. Couëlle went so far as to refer to the chapel as "ce monument absolument unique en son genre" (the most absolutely unique monument of its kind).
This organization is the first of its kind on a University campus. Marquette is the first University to host a Step Up! student chapter. Last Spring, we also became the first recipients of the Nsanga Service Award. The Step Up! Marquette Chapter is dedicated to educating the student population about the history of the 1994 Rwanda genocide. Through various events involving music, dance, performance, film and lecture, the Step Up! Marquette Chapter also shares with the Marquette students and staff what is being done in Rwanda today by the national Step Up! organization to help rebuild the Rwandan women emotionally, physically and psychologically. In addition to educating the student and staff population, it also raises funds to support the healing of Rwandan women who have been the victims of sexual-based violence, as well as providing for micro-finance projects..
