O New York English Institute nasceu em 2008. Surgiu da obstinação de seu proprietário, Ismael Alves, que nasceu e foi criado no Brasil, tendo enfrentado também o desafio de aprender Inglês. The owner of the Institute, Ismael Alves, was born and raised in Brazil and faced the challenge of learning English himself. From the time he was young his goal was to attend a University in the United States. For many years he studied at several English schools in Brazil to prepare him to achieve his goal. When he arrived in the United States he quickly discovered that his English abilities were not at the level he had expected them to be. He realized that the time he spent attending classes at the English schools could have been more productive and efficient. He also met other International students who felt that they were not prepared to communicate in English. He then started developing a method where people can learn English and be prepared to communicate fluently with natives. After several years of research and development the New York English Institute is proud to bring to Brazil a new approach to learning English as a second language. We invest our time and efforts in preparing our students for advantages in business opportunities, as well as touristic traveling and studying abroad. Chris York is a New York City based voice teacher with almost ten years of experience teaching professional and amateur singers of all ages. While maintaining a full private studio in midtown Manhattan, Chris is also an adjunct faculty member at Pace University (BFA program), teaches vocal technique for the college prep company MTCA, and for the last 8 years, has been on staff at the Studio, a School for the Performing Arts in New Canaan, CT. Chris received a bachelors of science degree in Music Education at Ball State University, did a year-long performing fellowship at the Fulton Theatre, and extensively studied vocology (the science of the voice) under Tom Burke, Robert Sussuma, Joan Lader, Joan Melton, and others. This spring, Chris will be completing his certification as a Certified Master Teacher in the Estill Voice Method. He also studied acting at the Jen Waldman Studio. His students have been seen and can be seen on Broadway (Matilda, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Elf, The Addams Family, Billy Elliot, South Pacific, West Side Story), TV/Film (NBC's The Sound of Music, So You Think You Can Dance?, Boardwalk Empire, Mr. Popper's Penguins, Law and Order SVU, etc), National Tours and Cruise Ships (Rock of Ages, Catch Me If You Can, Mamma Mia, The Producers, Flashdance), and Off-Broadway/regionally (Paper Mill Playhouse, The Public Theatre, The Fulton Theatre, etc).
