As community, we provide a place of belonging; as faithful followers of Christ, we seek to honor our deepest longing for God. We have ministered to the St. Louis area for over 125 years, serving in a variety of locations. Now we're delighted to welcome you to our new home near 1-270 and I-64. A Brief History of the Life We Share Our church began when thirty-seven Baptists met to organize a congregation on Garrison Avenue in 1877. Dr. W. Pope Yeamon was our first pastor. Two years later our lease expired, and we were forced to move—literally! Placed high atop rollers and drawn by horses, the chapel became part of a procession that lumbered slowly down the thoroughfare, two blocks west to a new location at Compton and Morgan. The newspapers saw us as indomitable, nicknaming the congregation “The Church on Wheels.” The moniker remained appropriate as we moved three more times during the next forty years, finally purchasing land and building a new sanctuary at the corner of Skinker and Washington. Here Delmar Baptist Church served for almost seventy-five years and grew to almost 1400 members. In 1990, after years of struggling to meet the needs of our changing neighborhood, we decided to sell our property to New Cote Brilliante Church of God. A gracious invitation from Salem-in-Ladue United Methodist Church provided us with a new place to worship and serve. After a nine-year sojourn with our Methodist brothers and sisters, and after much prayerful discernment, we decided to take another leap of faith. In 1998, we dedicated our new sanctuary in Town and Country. We celebrated our 125th Anniversary in 2002. After all these years, we remain on the move, seeking to honor the ever-new, ever-surprising movement of God’s Spirit. Our new beginning has been colored by hopeful enthusiasm and substantial growth, as we strive to connect with our neighbors, dream new dreams and launch new programs. The warmth and dedication of our congregation is a strong legacy to the faithful who supported the church throughout its rich and varied history.
The Education Division at Missouri Baptist University seeks to develop reflective, problem-solving, professional educators of excellence from a Christian perspective; to enhance the lives of students in the classroom intellectually, spiritually, physically, and socially; and to significantly influence students through the demonstrated integration of Christian faith and learning in the classroom, so that they may become positive change agents in a globally and culturally diverse society.

The MBU Ringers are an exciting addition to the Division of Fine Arts. Formed in the Fall of 1997 under the direction of Dr. Cathy Benton, this group adds to the ministry opportunities of MBU. The MBU Ringers are a five-octave hand bell choir utilizing the talents of approximately 12-15 students, who audition for the group at the beginning of the Fall semester. The Ringers have performed at numerous venues in the past including Silver Dollar City, Branson, MO; St. Charles Handbell Conference, the MMEA Conference at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO and most recently at the District 8 Handbell conference in Davenport, Iowa. Our appearances for the 2014-15 year have not been announced. Check back regularly for updates!
MBU Theatre, a department of the Fine Arts division at Missouri Baptist University. MBU offers Bachelors degrees in Theatre and Musical Theatre, as well as a Theatre minor. MBU Theatre produces four shows each season, in addition to various acting, singing, and directing showcases throughout the year.
