Make an appointment with one of our Writing Coaches at: http://webster.mywconline.com Students in all academic disciplines are invited to bring to the Writing Center papers in any stage of planning, drafting, revising, or editing. In the Writing Center, we will set you up with an individualized coaching session. Graduate coaches are available for Webster graduate students. Students from Webster's extended campuses are invited to send their papers to the Online Writing Center. Writing Center coaches help students develop strategies to learn how to improve and polish their writing skills and meet predetermined assignment goals. The coaches will not write or edit papers for students; instead, they will listen, read carefully, ask questions, and provide guided practice to build confidence in the student's own writing and editing abilities. We believe we will better assist you as "coaches" than as proofreaders or editors. In your session, your coach will: * Ask questions about the assignment and your paper * Read your paper * Comment on global issues (focus, development, organization, logic, clarity) * Help you determine where you might tighten and polish your prose * Discuss documentation and citation conventions * Point out patterns of mechanical and grammatical problems and provide suggestions on how you can learn to recognize and correct them Stop by and see us sometime in the Academic Resource Center!
Webster International Friendship provides an opportunity for international students to connect beyond the Webster University campus and helps them better understand our community. Participation gives both the students and community members an opportunity to learn about other cultures, have stimulating conversations, and make new friends. Through this informal program, international students will be matched with members from the local community and enjoy interactions to promote the open exchange of cultural experiences, customs and ideas. Community members enjoy the satisfaction of making a significant contribution to the success of the international students’ time in the U.S.

The MidWest Theatre Auditions, hosted on the campus of Webster University, take place annually on the third weekend of February. Each year, over 500 acting auditionees and 100 design, technical, and stage management interviewees from collegiate institutions across the Midwest arrive at the Loretto-Hilton Center in St. Louis, Missouri to participate in a weekend of auditions. Over 25 professional summer theatres, graduate schools, and internship programs attend annually. MWTA is organized, staffed, and executed by the Stage Management program of the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University. Under the mentor-ship and guidance of Peter E. Sargent, Dean of the Leigh Gerdine School of Fine Arts, the Stage Management students begin their work in August of each year, processing all of the incoming applications and organizing this large event. The Stage Management students are divided up to organize the various details of the actual weekend, from the four inch binders that contain the 500 acting applications, to the private callback rooms for each individual theatre, to the signs that lead visitors around Webster’s frozen February campus. As freshmen stage management students arrive and outgoing seniors depart Webster for the real world, the face of MWTA seems to constantly change and improve. In the coming years, we hope to increase the number of theatres that attend and establish ourselves as a premier audition festival in the Midwest. The original Cyrano's was founded 40 years ago, and was located in a romantic, intimate rathskeller at Clayton and DeMun Avenues. There, St. Louisans were introduced to several new things: smaller serving portions, outrageous gourmet desserts, and wonderful coffee drinks with strange, unheard-of-names like cappuccino, espresso, and latte. It was St. Louis' first and only European-style coffeehouse, and became tremendously popular. Any child or adult of that era remembers his favorite Cyrano dessert or the special "date" who was taken there. In 2003, several miles from the original location, a group of nostalgic St. Louis restaurateurs has reinvented and revitalized Cyrano's, thereby introducing a whole new generation to the fun and the romance of a past era. Cyrano tables, mirrors, artwork, and antiques that have been restored and intermingled with the bright colors of today, creating an atmosphere that is alive and progressive, but still cozy and romantic.
