Here, an individual can find a place to create, market and promote their work, as well as find new products and ideas amongst a community of artists, free thinkers, and experienced wholesalers. The Hungarian Cultural Alliance is a non-profit organization formed to unite Hungarians living in the diaspora through fostering Hungarian culture, heritage and history, to acquaint the wider American public with the same, as well as to cultivate relations with the motherland. The Hungarian Cultural Alliance’s headquarters are located at “Magtar” (in English Granary or Seed Depot). During the past year, “Magtar” has been hosting wide-ranging events, such as a Santa Claus party with the Hungarian Scouts, Carnival with two retro DJs - Devenyi Tibi/B. Toth Laszlo, Spring Festival, Children's Day, Summer Solstice festival, remembrance of 100th anniversary of the breakout of World War I, as well as a number of dance parties with our in-house DJ, DJ Devil. The Los Angeles Police Emerald Society is a multi-agency, social-fraternal organization founded in 1992 with the objective of fostering goodwill among the members of the numerous law enforcement officers. LAPES is a member organization of the National Conference of Law Enforcement Societies (NCLEES).

LTSC CDC collaborates with other nonprofit, community-based organizations to help them build multifamily affordable housing projects that serve their communities, and increase the capacity of the organizations to engage in broad neighborhood-based community building work including affordable housing. Through these collaborations, LTSC CDC has partnered with over 15 community-based organizations and has completed 22 projects with 800 units of affordable housing and approximately 125,000 square feet of community facility space. LTSC CDC has developed more than $200 million in community-serving nonprofit real estate projects. Currently, LTSC CDC sponsors over a dozen different community and social service programs, with over 100 paid staff persons and hundreds of volunteers to provide competent and compassionate services in many languages. Services include individual and family mental health counseling, child abuse prevention, case management, support groups, senior services, childcare, preschool, after-school youth programs, and domestic violence programs. LTSC CDC is also working with the community to create a Sustainable Little Tokyo.
HOW ARTS PROGRAM WORKS The Arts Program is one of Lamp's services and is rooted in the firm belief that the process of making art is inherently therapeutic. Since 1998, when it was founded by Rory White, the program has offered Lamp Community members a safe and encouraging environment in which to tap into their creativity. From visual arts to music and creative writing, the artists explore creative self-expression as they develop their individual voices, display the artwork, inspire each other, and make creativity a consistent, healing part of their lives. Led by community arts advocate Hayk Makhmuryan, the program currently consists of Lamp Art Project (Visual Arts) and Music Studios, complemented by workshops exploring other creative outlets from writing to photography, as well as periodic art shows and other participatory activities. OUTCOMES More than simply providing an opportunity to develop skills and technique, the Fine Arts Program plays a central role in the recovery and stability of many clients, and for over a decade, has served as a shining example of Lamp’s innovative, service enriched model. The Community HealthCorps Program is a division of AmeriCorps. Our Community HealthCorps volunteers serve in various nonprofit community clinics throughout Los Angeles County. While each volunteer has different responsibilities at their respective clinic, they all strive to promote health care for the underserved while developing tomorrow’s health care workforce. We are proud to be hosted by the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC), whose 54 members operate more than 200 sites in L.A. County and serve over one million patients per year.
Our Mission PACE Business Development Center is a local, non-profit organization that aims to advance the wealth of our communities by giving individuals the tools to develop sustainable businesses and successfully manage their personal finances. Our History PACE Business Development Center aspires to develop the potential of the diverse Los Angeles community by empowering small business owners with the knowledge, tools and resources necessary to successfully tap the market and achieve their dreams. Although initially launched to provide entrepreneurship training classes for low-income individuals, PACE BDC has since recognized the growing need to serve a broad spectrum of business owners in the market. To this end, we currently provide a variety of services for low-moderate small business owners and minority communities, to not only start up, but also expand, their businesses. PACE Business Development Center Today PACE BDC continues to operate programs that inspire and serve aspiring entrepreneurs, small business owners, and refugees & asylees in Los Angeles County. Currently we operate two Los Angeles Business Assistance Programs (East & West) which allowed our Center to expand our services to cover a larger area of the City; in 2009 we renewed the funding for our Women’s Business Center program so that we can continue to offer programs and services targeted to women entrepreneurs; and we received funding from the SBA’s Project for Investment in Entrepreneurship in order to continue to serve the needs of entrepreneurs and small business owners in the San Gabriel Valley. Furthermore, after recognizing the importance that personal finances and credit have on the success of a business, the BDC established our Asset Building Center in 2005 and have continued to expand the services offered with the support of HSBC and the United Way of Los Angeles. The Asset Building Center provides financial education training, credit counseling, homebuyer education and tax preparation services to the low-to-moderate income communities that we serve. Finally, our most recent development is the establishment of the PACE SBA Micro-Loan Program, which enables us to make loans from $500 to $15,000 to our own clients. This is a very exciting and important addition to our services as we are now able to train, counsel, and finance the businesses that come through our doors. Regardless of your needs or your stage of business, PACE BDC is proud to say that we have developed the resources to be able to address your concerns.
The Mayan Theater in Los Angeles, California, is a landmark former movie palace.HistoryDesigned by Stiles O. Clements of Morgan, Walls & Clements and opened in August 1927, the façade of the Mayan Theater includes stylized pre-Columbian patterns and figures designed by sculptor Francisco Cornejo. This is his major work.Originally a legitimate theater, the Mayan Theater is a prototypical example of the many excessively ornate exotic revival-style theaters of the late 1920s, Mayan Revival in this case. The well-preserved lobby is called "The Hall of Feathered Serpents," the auditorium includes a chandelier based on the Aztec calendar stone, and the original fire curtain included images of Mayan jungles and temples.The theater has been a location in many films including Save the Tiger, Rock 'n' Roll High School and A Night at the Roxbury.In 1990, the Mayan Theater, with most of its lavish ornament intact, became a nightclub. AT&T Center, formerly SBC Tower, Transamerica Building, and Occidental Life Building, is a 32-story, 138m skyscraper in the South Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Built to house the offices and computer center of the Occidental Life Insurance Company, it was completed in 1965. It is the 32nd tallest building in Los Angeles, and was the 2nd tallest (after the Los Angeles City Hall) when it was completed. The International styled building was designed by William Pereira & Associates.HistoryThe building is part of a 12acre complex originally called Occidental Center which includes a 225000sqft building at 1149 S. Broadway, a 300000sqft building on Hill Street, three parking decks with 3,500 spots, and a 6acre plot on the corner of Eleventh and Olive Streets. The three buildings are connected by underground pedestrian tunnels.Canyon-Johnson Realty Advisors bought the entire complex in April 2003 for $88 million. After they bought it, they converted the least occupied building into below market-rate apartments. In September 2006 Transamerica signed $75 million lease to retain its offices in the building. In 2007 to 2008 it went under a $35 million renovation. The landmark Fine Arts Building is located at 811 West 7th Street in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Also known as the Global Marine House, it was declared a historic cultural monument in 1974.ArchitectureThe building was designed by the architects Albert Raymond Walker (1881–1958) and Percy Augustus Eisen (1885–1946) in 1927. It is a compact twelve-storey block on an H-shaped plan with a facing of smooth and squared slabs of light-coloured stone.FaçadeThe first three storeys present a striking façade with a trapezoidal profile. The façade rises the entire height of the building, the side of which on the street is divided into three horizontal registers that echo the classic arrangement of a Renaissance palace in distinct lower, central and upper sections. In the Fine Arts Building as in its ancient Italian models, being closest to the eye of the beholder, the bottom section is the part on which the most sumptuous decoration and precise architectural definition is lavished.The façade's central axis is emphasized by a large entrance portal, with a rounded arch that rises the height of two storeys. This deep, splayed passageway has an arched lintel decorated with plant motifs that introduces serried ranks of arches on either side. They are resting alternately on small columns and pillars variously decorated with fantastic creatures and inlaid geometric patterns. The wall beneath the great arch is densely worked with volutes of acanthus leaves and concatenated circles simulating rope made entirely of terracotta reliefs. The entrance is divided in two by a column of green marble with a capital and decorated entablature on which the two smaller arches rest.
L.A. Live is an entertainment complex in downtown Los Angeles, California, adjacent to the Staples Center. L.A. Live cost approximately and was developed by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), Wachovia Corp, Azteca Corp, and investment firm MacFarlane Partners with help from Los Angeles taxpayers. The architectural firm responsible for the master plan and phase two buildings was Baltimore-based RTKL Associates. It has of apartments, ballrooms, bars, concert theatres, restaurants, movie theaters, and a 54-story hotel and condominium tower on a site. The complex became home to AEG and Herbalife headquarters in December 2008.FeaturesNokia PlazaNokia is a open-air plaza that serves as the central meeting place for L.A. Live. US Bank Tower, formerly Library Tower and First Interstate Bank World Center, is a 1018ft skyscraper at 633 West Fifth Street in downtown Los Angeles, California. It is the tallest building in California, the fourteenth tallest in the United States, the second tallest west of the Mississippi River, and the 92nd tallest building in the world. Because local building codes required all high-rise buildings to have a helipad, it was known as the tallest building in the world with a roof-top heliport from its completion in 1989 to 2004 when Taipei 101 opened. It is also the third tallest building in a major active seismic region; its structure was designed to resist an earthquake of 8.3 on the Richter scale. It consists of 73 stories above ground and two parking levels below ground. Construction began in 1987 with completion in 1989. The building was designed by Henry N. Cobb of the architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and cost $350 million to build. It is one of the most recognizable buildings in Los Angeles, often used in establishing shots for the city in films and television programs.

The Smell is an all-ages, alcohol and drug-free, punk rock/noise/experimental venue in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The Smell, notable for its DIY ethic, is home to many of the area's avant-garde performers and artists. The venue is maintained by Jim Smith, one of the four original organizers of the club, and a number of volunteers.The Smell continues in the tradition of Los-Angeles-based underground clubs such as The Masque and Jabberjaw. Aside from its primary function as a live music and performance art space, The Smell hosts a library, a vegan snack bar and a gallery space. The venue predates the conception of the Gallery Row district in which it is located. The Smell and the relatively new Gallery Row both border Skid Row.HistoryThe Smell was founded by Ara Shirinyan, Jarrett Silberman, and Jim Smith as one of the few all-ages art/performance spaces in Los Angeles, after the demise of two local venues, Jabberjaw and the Impala Cafe, during the same week in late 1997. The Smell opened just a short time later, on January 8, 1998. It was originally located by the intersection of Magnolia and Lankershim in North Hollywood, but when the cost of rent rose during the NoHo Arts District boom in 1999, the venue relocated to cheaper Downtown Los Angeles. Shirinyan gave up his ownership before the venue's move, so Silberman, Smith, and Mac Mann constructed the new space.

The Cathedral of Saint Vibiana, often called St. Vibiana's, is a former cathedral church building and parish of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Located in Downtown Los Angeles, the building opened in 1876 as the cathedral for what was then known as the Diocese of Monterey-Los Angeles, and remained the official cathedral of the Los Angeles see for over 100 years.The cathedral was heavily damaged during the 1994 Northridge earthquake and became the subject of a lengthy legal battle between the archdiocese, which wanted to demolish the building and build a new cathedral on the site, and preservationists, who wanted the building to remain standing due to its historical significance. In 1996, the parties involved reached a compromise in which the archdiocese would purchase a nearby site on which to build a new cathedral, and in turn would turn over the St. Vibiana site to the City of Los Angeles. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels was dedicated in 2002 as the successor to St. Vibiana's Cathedral.In the late 2000s, the former cathedral building became an event venue called Vibiana. The Little Tokyo branch of the Los Angeles Public Library is also located on the site. The 1885 cathedral structure is one of the last remaining buildings from the early period of Los Angeles history.
The Coca-Cola Building is a Coca-Cola bottling plant modeled as a Streamline Moderne building designed by architect Robert V. Derrah with the appearance of a ship with portholes, catwalk and a bridge from five existing industrial buildings in 1939. It is located at 1334 South Central Avenue in Los Angeles, California.It was designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument Number 138 on 5 Feb 1975. It is often referred to as the Coke Building.A former Coca-Cola manufacturing plant is located nearby at 4th and Merrick streets. it underwent an elaborate makeover into an office and retail complex in 2014. The three-story brick-clad building was described as the "headquarters for the company's Pacific Coast business and for its export trade in the Hawaiian Islands and Old Mexico" when it was built in 1915.
