The University of Maryland School of Dentistry is the dental school of the University System of Maryland. It was founded as an independent institution, the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, in 1840 and was the birthplace of the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. It is known as the first dental college in the world. It is headquartered at the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus. Its co-founders, Drs. Horace H. Hayden and Chapin A. Harris have been both inducted in the Pierre Fauchard Academy Hall of Fame. Dr. Harris was the school's first dean and a professor of practical dentistry. Following the death of Dr. Hayden on January 25, 1844, he became the school second president. The College is still in existence today and is part of the University of Maryland, Baltimore.The establishment of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery is seen as one of the three crucial steps in the foundation of the dental profession in the United States.

Forel Biography: A native of Brooklyn New York, Dr. Nicole C. Forel moved to Maryland in 1997 to attend Johns Hopkins University. After graduating with a BA in Natural Sciences in 2001, she pursued a career in dentistry. Dr. Forel attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2005. She participated in an international internship at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and completed a one-year general practice residency at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Forel has specialized training and certifications in a broad range of dental services such as Invisalign orthodontics, rotary endodontics, implant restoration, and esthetic dentistry. She takes great pride in her work and strives to create an environment where patients feel at ease. Her goal is to help each patient achieve optimal dental health and to keep Baltimore smiling. Dr. Forel lives with her husband Erik in Federal Hill. You might see them walking around the neighborhood with their pug dog Tank or in a local restaurant. Other interests include dance, sports, scuba diving, and spending time with friends and family.

The historic Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower is a beloved icon on the Baltimore skyline. Built in 1911 by the Emerson Drug Company, the Tower was originally capped with a fifty-one foot rotating model of the signature blue glass bottles of Bromo Seltzer (this was removed in '36 for structural concerns). In 1969, the building was donated to the City of Baltimore, and was used to house various City offices until 2006, when the Tower was purchased by Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower LLC, a cooperative between philanthropists Eddie & Sylvia Brown and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts, and extensively renovated to create thirty distinctive working studio spaces for artists.
Baltimore Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) was created in 1976 by the City of Baltimore to operate the Morris Mechanic Theater. It was a non-profit organization set up to bring the best of live theater to Baltimore. Leaders from the BCPA Board, led the charge to solve the evident problem that emerged in the 1990s. The economics of touring Broadway demanded a theater that had more seats than the Mechanic had. If the Baltimore region was to attract first rate productions, the city was going to either need to build a new theater or renovate an old one. When the decision was made to renovate the Hippodrome, the organization’s name was changed and BCPA became Hippodrome Foundation, Inc.
CLIA's programs use a youth-adult partnership model in which young people and caring adult professionals work in true collaboration and achieve collective impact through learning, advocating, and inspiring change. CLIA leads two programs for young people - CLIA's Law & Leadership Academies at Baltimore City high schools and the statewide Just Kids Campaign. CLIA's Law & Leadership Academy introduces Baltimore City students to law and policy while teaching them to be critical thinkers, problem-solvers, active citizens and community leaders.
