If you or someone know snores loudly or experiences chronic daytime sleepiness, it may be time to think about a sleep disorder known as sleep apnea. Research indicates that sleep apnea can take up to 14 years off of a person's life expectancy. To put that in perspective, consider that smoking removes about 7 years off of a person's life expectancy. Sleep apnea also contributes to advanced aging, accidents and lower productivity. Many people visit a sleep doctor and undergo a sleep study in a sleep clinic. If this option does not appeal to you and has stopped you from seeking a diagnosis in the past, there are alternatives. Currently, there is equipment that can monitor you while you sleep in your own bed. The results are then sent to a sleep doctor who will diagnosis you. If you are canidate for oral appliance therapy (OAT) your sleep doctor will work with a qualified dentist that you choose. If you choose the traditional sleep study in a sleep clinic, your physician can still work with your dentist if you are a canidate for OAT. If you are currently using a CPAP you might still be a canidate for OAT. Many patients have found that OAT, which is much like wearing an athletic mouth guard, to be much more comfortable, quieter and easier to sleep in. Their spouses tend to appreciate the OAT as well. Moreover, OAT makes traveling much easier. There are many benefits and many medical insurance companies will provide benefits to help with the cost of treatment.

The Inner Connection was formed in 1999 by Sharon Hepburn. Finding ways to advance on the journey through physical, emotional, and spiritual healing is one of the missions of The Inner Connection, INC. The Inner Connection is based on the premises that everyone has the inherent ability to heal him or herself but at times, they need assistance and support. That is why having another person along in the journey can be transformational. The primary objective of therapy is to listen to the client and let the client speak to how best he/she can transform and empower themselves The study of Unifield Therapy has helped Sharon integrate and transcend other modalities such as CranioSacral therapy, somato-emotional release, myofascial release, muscle energy, reiki, positional release, lymphatic drainage and many other western and eastern means of supporting the body so that an entirely different way of support, expression, and healing can be offered. If you would like to continue the process of transforming a physical ailment or releasing an emotional trauma from the tissues or would like to explore the body, mind, soul integration please, call at 314-918-1555.
I work with adults facing a variety of "speed bumps of life," including those that feel more like mountain ranges. My previous career was in IT (information technology) working at large science labs so I have experience with career change, people from other cultures. I've worked with people who have addictions (including substance abuse, self-injury, hoarding) and their loved ones. I also work with people who are dealing with depression and/or anxiety--whether or not they choose to include medication as part of their treatment. I have a special interest in the issues of older adults and people making major life transitions. My approach depends on what I think will help the person/people in front of me in the most timely manner. My goal is to be as accessible, accepting and genuine as I can. I am blessed to have been raised to be open and non-judgmental. I am open to helping you use your personal spiritual/religious practices to help with your journey. I am much more knowledgeable than most about how being LGBTQO can impact people's lives (including the lives of those who care about them). I have experienced both poverty and financial comfort (and everything in between). I have known brilliant people who didn't have a high school diploma and clueless ones with PhDs. I have experienced living in a foreign country and moving cross-country, yet now live less than a mile from the hospital where I was born. I hope these details will help you choose the best therapist for your personal needs. Studies have shown that the most important element in successful therapy is the client-therapist relationship--their rapport.
