How does it work? The Rio Theatre can accommodate a wide variety of events, including concerts, lectures, video presentations, movies and theatre. Our multi-purpose venue has 680 seats and a thrust stage 40 feet wide, with center section at 24 feet. Pricing for the Rio Theatre is based on the particular event, dependant of technical needs and staffing needs . Rehearsals and classes are charged hourly. Non-profit educational Organizations and public schools get special deals .... The Foyer and Cabaret Space: Tear drop shaped, with an approximate size of 24 feet wide and 60 feet deep..This is the main lobby space. Standard rental rate, well, is not standard.. Since every event is different, with varying budgets, all rentals are negotiated individually. The mission of the Rio Theatre is to make space available for the arts, at an affordable price. There is a sliding scale from commercial events to Non-profit organization and schools. Built in 1936, the Del Mar Theatre is an art deco triplex featuring a grand auditorium, tasty local snacks, organic popcorn (with real butter!) and weekly Midnight Movies. The theatre shows a wide variety of independent and foreign language films, as well as the best big-budget Hollywood movies, with state-of-the-art presentations in a welcoming community atmosphere. The theatre was frequented by Alfred Hitchcock when he lived in nearby Scotts Valley, and a photo of him resides in the lobby. Extensively renovated and restored in February 2002, it has been operated by Landmark Theatres since December 2015.
4 Screens DLP Digital Projection and Sound. Built in 1969, the charming four-screen Nickelodeon is located next to downtown Santa Cruz. The theatre shows a wide variety of independent and foreign language films, as well as the best big-budget Hollywood movies, with state-of-the-art presentations in a welcoming community atmosphere. The Nickelodeon has been operated by Landmark Theatres since December 2015.
Michaelangelo Gallery is located along the banks of the San Lorenzo River, across from the historic Salz Tannery, originally built in 1856. The gallery still maintains its old farm-house charm despite its recent renovations that include an artist live-work studio development, surrounding art studios, storage spaces and the 5000 square-foot gallery space. Angelo Grova, owner of MichaelAngelo Gallery, built this space conscientiously maintaining the barn-yard architecture and style characteristic of the old Tannery.
