The Philadelphia Argentine Tango School was founded in 2008 to offer top-notch instruction in Argentine tango to beginners through professional dancers in Philadelphia. In addition to group and private lessons, the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School offers weekly practicas, monthly milongas and occasional larger events. We have hosted five major tango festivals, and brought three major tango bands from Argentina to Philadelphia: Otros Aires (2009) and Tanghetto (2010) and the Alejandro Ziegler Quartet (2012 and 2013). We have also organized four Tango Tours to Buenos Aires. The school is directed by Meredith Klein, who has been dancing tango for 16 years and teaching tango full-time since 2006. Meredith is pleased to be able to bring a steady stream of internationally-recognized tango talent into Philadelphia each year, starting with Andres Amarilla, her dance partner, who spends 6 months of the year in Philadelphia. Other recent guest artists include: Gustavo Naveira & Giselle Anne, Nito Garcia & Elba Sottile, Carlos & Rosa Perez, Alejandro Larenas & Marisol Morales, Javier Antar & Kara Wenham, Carolina Zokalski & Diego Di Falco, Guillermo Cerneaz & Marina Kenny, Evan Griffiths, Adam Hoopengardner & Ciko Tanik, Jay Abling, Martin Maldonado & Maurizio Ghella, and Luis Bianchi & Daniela Pucci. is a platform for the experimental, ensemble-derived performance works of collaborators Megan Bridge (choreography) and Peter Price (design, music). The origin of ’s work is multimedia dance theater, an orientation that follows the historical legacies of Bauhaus, Ausdruckstanz, 1960’s experimentalism, performance art of the 70’s and 80’s, and developing digital multimedia. Since 2000, Bridge and Price have created more than 20 collaborative works. In 2008 they founded , and in 2009 opened thefidget space, a warehouse and experimental performance venue in Kensington, Philadelphia, where they live and work. ’s performances are complex worlds, shifting landscapes, awkward dystopias with rules of their own. Referential and even appropriationist, the work is grounded in the discourses of contemporary art, culture, and theory (we like experiments), and can be seen as a sort of metaphysical spelunking: churning up bits of evidence with which to construct a biological commentary on the characteristics of a rapidly approaching post-human era. ’s work strives to cultivate a sensitivity to time unfolding, to the actual material of space, and centers around trying to demystify the performance experience, for artists and audience alike. Central to ’s mission is decreasing the distance between art and life, between theory and practice. We do this by raising our family in our live/work space, and opening our space to other artists, researchers, and cultural workers who are making an impact on the world around us through hundreds of daily acts of creativity and resistance to the mainstream.
A Seed on Diamond Gallery is located in the Kensington district of Philadelphia. The gallery’s interest lie in creating an alternative space where artists of all communities and cultural backgrounds can share a space and tell their stories through, music, spoken word, dance and Visual Art. The gallery has a special interest in community arts, fine arts, education and collaboration and the direct impact that all can have in the transformation and evolution of an individual and the communities they inhabit. Artists have the capacity of mobilizing a community and becoming a voice for those who have been silenced. It is my hope to continue to bring art to the community and to create art with community. Only when our children are exposed to all the opportunities before them can they envision the possibilities for change and growth. Betsy Casanas Director and Owner

We founded BYO as an affordable, accessible printmaking studio in Philadelphia, with the mission to keep artists printing on their own time within a reasonable budget. We are located in Kensington, just off of the arts corridor of Frankford Avenue. Ours members share a huge light-filled studio on the third floor of Sharktown Studios. Visit our website/blog for info about membership rates, our facilities, and who our printers are.

My approach is very personal. I always come away from a wedding feeling like I've just experienced something beautiful between close friends. For me, the most important thing is to capture the love between you and your partner honestly. It's this intimate approach that will help you feel at ease and comfortable with the camera, highlighting the organic beauty that is revealed when people really feel like themselves. I earned a degree in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), one of the most prestigious photography programs in the country. This level of experience and training comes heavily into play while capturing your special day. I am drawing on a bank of knowledge and know-how that has taken years in the field to master. Of course I also come with a wide assortment of top-of-the-line equipment. I bring multiple high end cameras, spectacular lenses, gorgeous lighting and flashes, and more importantly_,_ the knowledge to use this equipment to it's fullest potential. The result is a simple and fresh aesthetic, rich in narrative images and telling details. Every wedding is unique. Most weddings are a combination of timeless traditions and spontaneous celebrations. As your photographer, I am constantly open to possibility, seeking out the nuanced shots that tell the story of your love. There are certain moments I expect to photograph of course, and then there are the photos that can't possibly be planned, but are full of emotion and truth. Sometimes it's these moments in between the poses that tell your story best.
