Fair Saint Louis 2016 – America’s Biggest Birthday Party in Forest Park! Join us this July in St. Louis’ iconic Forest Park, which was recently named “Best City Park” in the nation by USA Today, as we celebrate our nation’s independence. Saturday, July 2, through Monday, July 4, the grounds that once hosted the 1904 World’s Fair will welcome back fairgoers to experience three days of memorable fun and entertainment. Keeping with Fair tradition, this year’s event will feature a variety of free family entertainment, live music from nationally-recognized recording artists, and much more. And as always, an unforgettable, world class fireworks show will close out each night of the Fair. OUR PROGRAMS: Recycling On the Go St. Louis Earth Day’s Recycling On the Go is the region’s first wide-scale event-greening program. Green Dining Alliance A program committed to working with St. Louis restaurants to reduce their environmental impact. By considering all areas of operations, the GDA puts strong emphasis on reducing, recycling and composting restaurant waste as well as sourcing sustainable food, to-go ware and cleaning supplies. St. Louis Earth Day Festival The St. Louis Earth Day Festival is the oldest and largest Earth Day Festival in the Midwest. Attracting 30,000 attendees on average annually, the Festival is a premier destination for the public to learn about a wide-range of environmental issues in an engaging and entertaining setting. Recycling Extravaganza A collection event for hard-to-recycle items made its debut at the 2011 St. Louis Earth Day Festival. All are invited to load up their cars, trucks or bicycle baskets with any (or all) of the items that will be collected by one of a dozen partnering non-profit organizations or recycling companies. St. Louis Earth Day Symposium This important educational and networking event for local governments and planning professionals gives tools for implementing sustainable considerations in new projects throughout the St. Louis area.
American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® is a 5K, noncompetitive walk that unites the St. Louis community to honor breast cancer survivors, educate people about steps they can take to reduce their risk or find breast cancer early, and raise funds to help end this disease. More than 192,000 women were expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and more than 40,000 to die from the disease. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than just the name of an event: it represents the progress we are making together to defeat this disease. Funds raised through this event support the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or finding it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking research; and by fighting back by encouraging lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.

Programming takes place year-round at our new location at 5959 Delmar Blvd. in the Loop East. The largest portion of the 200+ youth we serve each year are apprentices in ArtWorks’ Summer Program. Since 1995, youth apprentices in the Summer Program have been hired through a competitive application process in which artistic talent and personal motivation are employment criteria. Past apprentices who successfully finish the summer program by showing leadership, talent, and interest are invited to continue working in the fall and spring programs.

Offering Shelter, in Jesus' Name since 1986! The Grace and Peace Winter Shelter has been offering temporary, overnight shelter during the colder months to homeless women of St. Louis since 1986. We are planning, Lord willing, to reopen for this winter on November 12, 2014. If we don't open that date, we will open a bit later. We are working hard to get all the volunteers signed up to operate the Shelter! The Winter Shelter operates in the basement of Grace and Peace's building in an urban area on the west side of the city. By the grace of God, many suburban churches send helping hands and meals each winter. Neighboring churches and agencies also partner with us! As a result, the shelter ministry extends well beyond the boundaries of the congregation of Grace and Peace.Many women have come back year after year to stay at Grace and Peace during the winter, citing the warm community there that they like to call home. Many have also "graduated" to apartments of their own. The Winter Shelter receives no government funding, relying instead on volunteer helpers and meal providers as well as on donations to cover staff stipends and other expenses. Celebrate Fitness attracts as many as 1400 registrants. Participants choose from one of eight different workouts – zumba, water aerobics, yoga, bootcamp, 5k and 10k competitive runs, a 5k walk or 1 mile funwalk. All workouts are led by local fitness professionals.
The Angel Band Project is a national non-profit dedicated to providing healing for survivors of sexual assault through music.
WashU China Care focuses on fundraising for medical surgeries for disadvantaged Chinese orphans in China as well as raising awareness about the issues they face. We also have two mentorship programs for local adopted Chinese children, Dumplings Playgroup and Big Sister, Little Sister Program, which allow adoptees to learn about Chinese culture as well as build friendships with other adoptees and college-age mentors. In the summer, a group of volunteers travel to Beijing to volunteer in the China Care Home, a healing home that provides care and nurture to orphans before and after surgery.

This partner stimulates and mobilizes private effort to provide alternative assistance (non-monetary) and mentoring. It is a rewarding experience for churches and other groups to help less fortunate families.
