Art Basel Week now has a new haven for foodies and beer aficionados. “The Factory” Art Show at Wynwood Cigar Factory will house The 1st Annual Basel Biergarten opening Thursday Dec. 6 at 2pm through Sunday Dec. 9th. Chef Andres Barrientos and Chef James Bowers of Aarons Catering have joined forces with the Mixed Media Collective and Gaudi Castro to develop a new annual Basel week tradition combining beer, bacon, street art and music. The pop-up Biergarten, in conjunction with the Drink Like a Local Campaign, will be serving up top craft beers from Florida breweries, Cigar City, Monk in the Trunk, Michaels' Genuine, Native Brewing, Tequesta and Due South on tap. Barrientos and Bowers will be simultaneously launching Miami Smokers, a charcuterie house featuring candied bacon and other delicious artisan smoked meats. The Chefs’ are partnering with local food trucks to create the perfect pairings and high-end beer-friendly bites.

Wynwood Walls was established in 2009 by the legendary placemaker and visionary Tony Goldman as an outdoor museum of international street art. Since the first year's program – featuring Kenny Scharf, Futura, Os Gemeos, Swoon, Shepard Fairey, and other renowned innovators in street art, Wynwood Walls has become a phenomenon, spurring the creation of murals throughout the Wynwood district. It is now one of the best venues in the world to see the work of leading street artists. In 2010, the adjacent Wynwood Doors, with 176 feet of roll-up storefront gates was added. Each subsequent year, a selection of international artists – that range from old school graffiti artists to young artists responsible for the newest work being created today – have created artwork for the Wynwood Walls. In 2012, Wynwood Walls celebrated Art Basel with a series of events dedicated to the vision of Tony Goldman who passed that September. Since that time, the project has been curated by Tony's daughter, Goldman Properties CEO Jessica Goldman Srebnick. The world-class murals and the spirit of the project attracts thousands of people to Wynwood Walls each year and it has become a popular site for musical concerts, poetry readings, film and video screenings and special events.
