Origany Origany is a company that prides itself as one that is focusing on environmentally conscious clothing and accessories made from organic cotton and other eco-friendly materials. We call it "Clothing Made Organic by Nature." Origany founder and parent himself holds a belief that today’s parents view their environment as well as fashion in a "green" context. Green has become the new black! To be Green, parents feel that they do not need to, nor do they want to, give up on the colors, the designs or the super soft feel of the clothes they are used to putting on their kids. To appeal to this discerning audience, we made a conscious decision to create designs for our clothing for babies and toddlers that are sophisticated and super soft to touch. Origany baby clothes (0-24 months) are ideal for babies to play in, are super soft and made with 100% organic cotton. Origany baby garments are super soft and made in India from 100% organic cotton grown in India. Our colored apparel is made with low-impact eco-friendly dyes that minimizes the environmental impact. Of course, all natural color garments contain no dyes. Origany toddler and girls clothes (sizes 2-6Y and soon up to 10 years) are made from certified organic cotton or baby alpaca combined with certified organic cotton. All toddler and girls garments also use low-impact dyes. Why Organic Cotton? Over the past decade, you may have heard some of the reports citing conventional cotton farming as one of agriculture’s most environmentally destructive activities. The simple act of growing and harvesting the one pound of cotton fiber needed to make a T-shirt takes an enormous toll on the air, water, and soil, not to mention the health, of people living and working in the country where cotton is grown. In fact, cotton crops are the second largest user of agricultural pesticides in the world (coffee is the first and tobacco the third). 25% of the world's insecticides and more than 10% of the world's pesticides are used on cotton, with 50 million pounds applied yearly in the United States. It takes a third of a pound of pesticides to produce enough cotton for a single item of clothing. The worst part that not all of those pesticides stay on the cotton fields. It is estimated that only 25% of pesticides sprayed from a crop duster actually hit the crop. The remainder drifts for miles and lands on other food crops, residential areas and water sources. These pesticides are harmful. Four of the top nine pesticides used on cotton, (cyanide, dicofol, naled, propargite) are classified by the EPA as cancer-causing chemicals. According to a 1997 study by the International Labor Organization, "14% of all occupational injuries in the agricultural sector, and 10% of all fatal injuries can be attributed to pesticides." Organically grown cotton eliminates these harmful chemicals and is certified by independent third parties and some state agencies to ensure that no synthetic substances were used in the cultivation and harvesting of the fibers. Cotton grown on land free of chemicals for three years is certified as "organic." Why Baby Alpaca? Some of our exclusive designs contain a combination of baby alpaca and organic cotton fibers. We created this unique weave that has been very well received at the trade shows. In fact, the dress and the super soft touch feel of Origany dress made with baby alpaca is featured on the cover of Baby and Kids Magazine for October/November 2009 edition. Baby Alpaca ultra-luxurious yarn makes our toddler dresses standout and classic. Sophisticated, modern and elegant. Baby alpaca is a higher grade and consists of finer fibers than most alpaca yarns available. Our baby alpaca yarn comes from the leading and well known yarn producer in Peru. Baby alpaca is 30% warmer than wool. The hollow physical structure unique to alpaca fibers traps body heat, providing exceptional thermal insulation. Alpaca yarns are strong and do not easily break, fray, pill or create static. Nor does it stain easily, and it is easy to launder. Alpaca is a sustainable and environmentally-friendly resource. Additionally, the use of low-impact dyes on Origany baby alpaca fibers makes colored baby alpaca apparel just as eco-friendly as natural ones. We wanted to offer our retail customers, as well as our end-consumers, an alternative to enjoy our beautifully created baby and toddler clothes. The line needed to be different from our organic clothing label Origany (www.origany.com). Of course, we did not want to compromise on the quality or the trends. We certainly did not want to sell last-season’s merchandise like most of our competitors do. At the same time, this line needed to be affordable in this newly reset economy. The concept of Rim Zim Kids brand was born! “Rim Zim” means drizzle in the Hindi language. We are doing our part to help you save for a rainy day! Designer creations Each Rim Zim Kids collection is unique, so what you find at one store will not be the same at other stores or e-commerce sites. Each collection is carefully designed and merchandized, so it looks and feels designer (or high-end). The range of apparel includes baby and toddler basics to fashion apparel, all of which are in tune with the trends.
