Owners Jeffrey and Daniel opened VilleVelo Bake Shop in early 2015 with a dream of creating a space where they could utilize their shared expertise in baking and provide an assortment of delicious and unique choices for their customers. The name VilleVelo is a loose translation (and play on words) from a French phrase, basically, meaning ‘Bike Town’.
Great Notion Brewing is a 7 BBL brewery and tap room in Portland Oregon that has taken over The Mash Tun at 2204 NE Alberta #101 (next to Pine State). We will open with Great Notion beer and food in late 2015 (after getting our brewers license from the TTB) but until then will run The Mash Tun as is, finishing up their beer and adding some awesome guest taps. Great Notion Brewing will primarily focus on juicy IPA’s and creative sour ales though you'll also find a variety of beers on fresh fruit, and stouts with coffee & chocolate. Our barrel program will be an off site location where our American sour ales age for 9-24 months in oak barrels and clay amphoras. A portion of our sour ales will be blended with Summer Oregon fruit like peaches, apricots, strawberries, and cherries. Freshly emptied Bourbon barrels will age our imperial stout on ingredients like roasted coffee, vanilla beans, chocolate, and chilies. When it comes to brewing creative craft beer, we realize the immense talent within this city. We’ve been inspired by many, in Portland and beyond. We wouldn’t be here without the brewers who came before us, those who took chances, tried something new, and shared their experience. Great Notion Brewing's taproom employees are the best. They help make the taproom an amazing place to drink and eat! The Great Notion Team is: Brewing & marketing James Dugan, brewing & operations Andy Miller, and finance & business Paul Reiter. Beer is all about sharing, so please join us for a pint.
Great Notion Brewing is a project started by three friends; Andy Miller, James Dugan, and Paul Reiter. All three guys met each other out of coincidence, they live on the same street in North Portland. Andy and James met each other while home brewing in 2010, and began developing recipes and building a friendship. Together they have 25 years of brewing experience with medals in the National Homebrew Competition for fruit lambic and Double IPA. Paul Reiter has a degree in business and finance with a focus on start-ups and creative enterprise . In April of 2014, the boys finally got together and shared some home brew. On this night they enjoyed a Stout with hand smoked Vienna malt, a 3 year old Peach Sour, and a 10% double IPA. It’s fair to say, on this night, Great Notion Brewing was born.
In 1996, a small group of friends came together to share their passion for food and pastry from their home country, France. Soon after, they decided to open La Provence Bakery & Bistro, located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. By popular demand, and to accommodate a growing wholesale bakery, they opened a second shop on SE Division Street in Portland, Petite Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie. This location has a special glass door in the dining room so you can see the bakery at work. An opportunity arose to expand to The Dalles, Oregon, and in 2007, Petite Provence of the Gorge was opened for business. Soon after followed Petite Provence Alberta. We continue to grow and add locations, with hopes of reaching everyone in the Portland-Metro area. To see where to find the closest location to you, click on the Hours & Locations link to the right. As a group of restaurants, we try to keep our menus and offerings similar, while still allowing our chefs creative freedom to give each location its own special character. It is our goal to bring you a bit a France with each visit. We also strive to use local products whenever possible and be environmentally responsible.
