At the Intersection of Imagination and Innovation At the Hotel Indigo Newark Downtown hotel, you’ll notice a unique connection between our boutique hotel and the neighborhood. Our building was erected in 1912 and designed by Cass Gilbert as the First National State Bank; we still honor these roots today with a front desk created from reclaimed teller desks and by integrating the original bank vault into our restaurant’s design. With exposed brick, beautiful windows, and unique loft configurations, our refreshing guest rooms all feature décor and artwork that reflect the neighborhood’s spirit of innovation and invention. Our restaurant, Alva, invents dishes full of local flavor, while our Skylab bar features freshly prepared cocktails, all just a short walk from Prudential Center and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC).
SpringHill Suites is designed for both business and leisure travelers seeking style and space at an affordable price. An all-suite hotel offering modern amenities that provide guests with the opportunity to relax and revitalize so they leave feeling better than when they arrived.
“Amazing” and “spectacular” are the words most often used by our visitors, as they discover the originality of the building, which was once a Newark Fire House and Depot and a machine shop hoist manufacturer. Three years of restoration is the result of what the location is now. Though not technically a historical building or landmark, the current owners have treated it as such and retained all the original brickwork and structure through its restoration. Anything added or built new has replicated period-correct design. Located in the Ironbound section of the East Ward, The Avenue A offers versatile room configurations, including a cigar lounge and terrace for you and your guests to enjoy. State-of-the-art entertainment technology, additional production services and an indoor loading dock makes for a premier event destination.
A Commitment to excellence has always been our guide in providing our guests with La Fiamma’s unique dishes in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Our fine regional Italian cuisine and local culinary awards speak for themselves, but our greatest reward is making your visit a memorable delight. At La Fiamma Italian Restaurant and Bar, we have one goal in mind for you… Dining at its finest.

Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium, originally simply Riverfront Stadium, was a 6,200-seat baseball park in Newark, New Jersey, United States, that was home to the baseball teams of two of Newark's universities: the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders, who play in the New Jersey Athletic Conference as part of NCAA Division III, and the NJIT Highlanders, who play in the Atlantic Sun Conference as part of NCAA Division I.The impetus for the stadium's construction was the awarding of an expansion franchise in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an independent minor baseball league, in 1999. The team took the name Newark Bears, and the stadium hosted its first regular season baseball game on July 16, 1999 when the Bears took on the Lehigh Valley Black Diamonds. The Bears played in the stadium from 1999 until 2013, having later moved to the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, before the team was folded. The stadium was named in honor of the original Bears, who were the top farm club of the New York Yankees from 1946 until 1949, and the Newark Eagles, who played in the Negro Leagues.
