The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at over 2.4 million in 14,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines. Over the years, the Legion has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans and produced many important programs for children and youth. For God and Country.

We answer the call of Service Not Self. We are the nearly 800,000 wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, granddaughters and descendants of veterans who served our great country during times of war. Some of us are veterans ourselves.

Working together collaboratively we all can make a difference. Faith-based organizations should not be considered aliens in the community; instead, as allies utilizing biblical principles and resources to help heal a wounded soul. Science offers chemicals and rest, which may heal the mind and flesh, but only the Creator can heal the soul of His creation. Our employment program prepares and enhances a person's ability to compete for sustainable well-paying careers in the workforce.About the Center... THE INSPIRATION CENTER, The Inspiration Center, founded as Students in Christ's Youth Center was established in 2000 when would be Inspiration Center Executive Director Rosalind Harris was divinely inspired to take on a role with the youth of San Antonio that would require her to step beyond what she was allowed to do in her then current position working within the justice department. She wanted to make sure she could introduce faith while reaching out to all kids but had to faith centered, which makes it different from other organizations. As a member of a military family, she was blessed to witness what having access to the good you programing that military bases had for the youth had done for her kids was inside the base, but she wanted to create the same environment outside the gates, for everyone, regardless of socio-economic background. As it was inspired by her faith, she named it the “Inspiration Center.” The Center started in schertz 1201 oak street, at an old a miniature golf course. Original programs such as Tut’n Sup included tutoring and eat after school meals, nutrition programs so that they could eat healty, taught how to eat healthy on a budget. They also had rec pool tournament game tournament, and talent show. There was major improvement, parents really liked the improvements in school. and kids came everyday monday through saturday. The center was there for 5 ryears, but was in a flood zone, so they couldn’t buy it. Then were invited by Northeast Baptist Church to use their old daycare. partnered with civil engineering on randolph, they did a squadron project, and even a private contractor came out and did community projects to improve both facilities, and were blessed by people providing. connected the rooms, rewired it then left 5 years later. worked with complexes in the area, with programs, did angel food for people there in the need, during holidays gave people food to last for a month, not just a day, provided clothing to women who were trying to get back on their feet. had high end shopping, Gods boutique, with a voucher that was made to look like a gift card and the cards had no cash values to restore their dignity, did mary kay facials. Been at current location since June 2010. The Inspiration Center has now grown to have a 3000 sq foot facility located in the heart of Northeast San Antonio. It now provides a easy comfortable environment and state of the art equipment to house the programing that can change the lives of veterans, youth, and families as a faith-based, non-profit, all inclusive organization, promoting sustainable youth and adult development programs that offer improved life application, social and job skills for families by working in partnership with parents, school, social service agencies and churches. Our goal is to promote an all services hub for other faith-based agency partners in an environment that will demonstrate basic care; creating a homelike atmosphere where the families social, mental, physical and spiritual need are addressed, met and goals achieved. Our position within the faith-based and secular community is an integral part of achieving this mission. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all you ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight" Proverbs 3:5-6
