Its first two schools, The French School and The Spanish School, opened in 2009.HistorySt. Louis Language Immersion Schools (SLLIS) is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 to develop and operate a network of charter schools in St. Louis.On February 20, 2009, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Board of Commissioners granted the schools a 5-year charter sponsored by the University of Missouri–St. Louis.The French School and The Spanish School opened in August 2009 with kindergarten and first grade classes. After experiencing the pedestrian culture of London, my wife and I felt more sluggish, our muscles were tighter, and our posture was noticeably worse after returning to our sedentary lifestyle. I started to research the effects of sitting on our health. The Mayo Clinic shocked me with its findings and confirmed our suspicions: we need to take a stand against sedentary culture. As I searched for a standing desk or a stand up desk, all the affordable options were made of cheap plastic and the more sturdy options were $500+ do-it-yourself projects. I began a mission to make an affordable and stylish desk. The revo!t desk is the result. Made from a solid beechwood top and metal legs, this stand up desk will withstand heavy use, as it has for me already. You can also disassemble the desk for easy moving. The clean lines of the design highlight the quality materials and sturdy build. revo!t is a husband + wife duo of a social worker and aspiring theologian both (amazingly) attempting to finish graduate school simultaneously. Now St Louisians via Greenville, SC and London, England.
