As a result, Sparling resigned under protest. When he left, he took with him a number of faculty and students, to start a new college. Faculty voted in favor 62 to 1, and students 488 to 2 for the school. In the beginning, the university had no library, campus, or endowment.

We offer classes Monday through Thursday from 7 to 8 pm to help you stay in shape! - Service Saturdays (and sometimes Sundays): These events provide residents the opportunity to give back to their community. These events are hosted on the weekends.

The Meadville Theological School was founded in Meadville, Pennsylvania in 1844. Its founder was a prosperous businessman, Harm Jan Huidekoper, who had discovered Unitarianism and wanted to help spread its message of liberality and hope in the "west." From its very beginning "no doctrinal test" was ever to be made a part of admission to the school. To become less isolated and to find a more enriching intellectual environment, Meadville moved in 1926 to become a part of the University of Chicago academic community. Lombard College, originally the Illinois Liberal Institute, was founded in 1851 in Galesburg, Illinois, and its Universalist Divinity School in 1881 in Chicago. When the undergraduate college discontinued operations during the Great Depression, the Divinity School began a merger process with Meadville. From 1929 to 2011, Meadville Lombard was located at South Woodlawn Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. Our school began a new chapter when we relocated to our current location on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago's South Loop. The library facilitates ease of access locally to 240,000 volumes and more than 80,000 print and online journal titles. The Performing Arts Library offers resources in music, theatre, and dance. Additionally, students and faculty have access to the collections of over 80 academic libraries in the state of Illinois through the I-Share service. Items can be requested through the online RU catalog to be delivered to either the Murray-Green Library or the Schaumburg Library from any of these institutions.

WHAT THE HECK IS THE STUDENT ACTIVITY FEE? The SAF is a $25 fee added to your tuition bill so you can reap the benefits of Student Organizations and SPEED. It is the reason that Student Orgs and SPEED can exist on campus. beause of the SAF CSI has cheap movie tickets all day everyday. SPEED gets a cut of the SAF so they can plan you fun events and get you way cheap tickets for things in the city. The rest goes into the very capable and un-biased hands of SAFAC. SAFAC is the Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee. They make sure Student Orgs have the money to do fun events and activities that are open to the whole school. the committee is required to make sure the money is going towards something that not only will benefit the Student Org but the entire school. If you keep your eyes open for the activities on campus (by coming to pages like this) you will make back the $25 and more in no time!

Roosevelt University has offered a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) degree since 1964. The MPA program at Roosevelt University is designed to meet the needs of practicing and aspiring administrators within government (local, state and federal), healthcare, and nonprofits. Our student base is largely part time, working students from the Chicago area. MPA students at Roosevelt University choose from one of three areas of concentration: Government Management; Health Services Management; and, Nonprofit Management. Our students have gone on to many important positions within Illinois and nationally, including police chief, hospital president, housing director, state senator, and representative in the U.S. Congress.
The Communication & Media Innovation Department is within the School of Media Arts at Columbia College Chicago. The school of Media Arts guides, educates and inspires students to become innovative artists and communicators by fostering creativity, critical thinking, and social consciousness. Media Arts students are challenged to analyze the past, interpret the present and collaboratively shape the future.
The American Sign Language Department at Columbia College Chicago is home to the only nationally accredited, BA-granting ASL-English Interpretation program and Deaf Studies program in the Chicago Metropolitan area. Our undergraduate degree program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Interpreter Education. Since 1993, our department has prepared students for work in the fields of Deafness, American Sign Language, and ASL-English Interpretation. The curriculum emphasizes work with the Deaf population as a linguistic and cultural minority. As such, graduates of our department not only become aware of and sensitive to issues concerning Deafness, but they also become effective cultural and linguistic mediators working in diverse communities. The high demand for American Sign Language interpreters in the United States affords graduates of our program the opportunity to find employment in a host of fields, including the preforming arts, corporate and business offices, and education. Our graduates also hold local, state, and national positions with interpreting organizations, and some pursue advanced degrees in the fields of interpretation, linguistics, education, and the social sciences. Regardless of their chosen field, students graduate well prepared to help shape the future of this dynamic, important, and deeply fulfilling profession.
Television is evolving and Columbia’s Television Department prepares you to succeed in all its traditional and emergent forms. From the first semester, students learn in a hands-on environment using our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Our foundation curriculum, grounded in history, ethics and artistic vision, will take you through every phase of production from script to screen. Concentrations include Directing & Production, Writing & Producing, Post Production & Effects or Internet & Mobile Media.

Lectures in Photography is jointly presented by the Photography department and the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago. Each semester leading artists, curators, and art historians present a public lecture for our students and the larger Chicago and Midwest community. We continually strive to shape and enliven the discourse around photo based work through our programming. All lectures are FREE to the CCC community and the general public.
Currently, more than 1,300 students of Latino ancestry are enrolled at Columbia College Chicago. They share the beautiful cultures and traditions of Central America, South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean with the entire campus. Latino Cultural Affairs coordinates a number of events and programs throughout the year including Columbia College Chicago’s Latino Heritage Celebration and the Latino Student Short Film Competition which highlights student short films made by Latino student filmmakers or exploring a Latino theme. The office also works actively with the Latino Alliance student organization, a group that serves as a family away from home for students of Latino heritage. In partnership with the office, the organization coordinates a variety of social, academic, philanthropic, and cultural programs throughout the year and supports fellow students in their academic and professional pursuits.
