MPOWERSTL hosts tons of free events for younger Gay/Bi guys and transwomen in St. Louis. While some of our events are education-based, most of them are about being social, and all of them are designed to be a lot of fun! These events are not only great places to meet guys and have a good time: they're also opportunities to volunteer and get involved in your community! We try to focus on the entire "gay experience," not just the bar/club scene, and we're all about helping guys maintain healthy minds, bodies, and relationships. If you want to get involved, we have something that is PERFECT for you.
We have regular science labs during school year on Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. We have astronomy, chemistry, agriscience, engineering, computer science, neuroscience, and entrepreneurship components in our program that engage teens in critical thinking about science and fun scientific learning. During summer time, we don't have regular components but we do have Summer Time Science that serves the same purpose as regular school year activities while adds to more insights of knowledge and provides more internship opportunities for the teens.
The members of the Eagle Scout Association raise money and work on a variety of service projects with the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Tango, waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha-cha, rumba, salsa, Argentine tango... these are names representing some of the 29 styles of ballroom dance that are performed in competitions and danced at social gatherings and night clubs around the world. Studies show ballroom dancing provides a positive and youthful environment for people of all ages. Not only is ballroom dancing a cultural event, it's also a form of exercise that improves one's health and mind by teaching social skills, fall prevention, balance, musicality, concentration, and sequential memory. Ballroom dancing is truly an inter-generational lifelong activity that can be enjoyed and participated in by everyone. Come join us. Welcome to EMO 2013-2014. I am Daniel E. Rothe, Governor for this term and I am looking forward to a fun and fantastic year as we grow our Eastern District of Missouri. I have already set some goals, which are listed elsewhere in the directory; I have also tried to place some key people in positions to accomplish great things this year. So if I have asked you to help with anything, I am confident you will do your best to make this a successful year in helping to bring out the best in our kids of EMO. I have arranged training sessions for each of our three Conferences; I hope everyone will be able to attend. I would like to keep up the momentum that Past Governor Larry Ream achieved during his 2012-13 term and would like to join with our district members as we move onto the next level, in our growing our Optimist communities, in both more new clubs and more new members in each of our existing clubs. I am always interested in hearing about new ideas, you may have, and alternative ways to make our district a more vibrant and fun place to grow Optimism so as to become more visible, in a positive manner, where ever our journey takes us. Our theme this year is “A Look at the Sunny Side” as taken from our Optimist creed. I had a banner made up, which we raised for the first time this year, at the St. Louis St. Patrick’s Day Parade. I plan to bring this to the district meetings to liven up the atmosphere at the Embassy Suites. I have talked to our International President, Ron Huxley, and he is willing to help us achieve anything we desire to achieve. The Optimist Club of Metro St. Louis is a service club affiliated with the non-profit organization, Optimist International. This club chartered on September 25, 2013. We participate in volunteer work and fundraising that will benefit underprivileged members in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. We also work with Optimist International's Childhood Cancer Campaign (http://www.optimist.org/ccc) to provide support to cancer research, to healthcare providers, to families, care partners and to cancer patients. Optimist International has already met a $1 million commitment to fund an Endowed Research Fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Last year (2012-13) a new pledge of $500,000 was made to Johns Hopkins in the new Cure Childhood Cancer Campaign.
The 4522 Club, aka The Lindell Club, is a private social club that hosts a variety of Twelve Step recovery meetings. We are supported by our members, guests are welcome.

The Gravois Trail District is located in South St. Louis County and the Fenton area. It consists of the southern edge of the Rockwood School District, as well as the Lindbergh, Bayless, Hancock Place, Mehlville, and Affton School Districts.
