Clay Cafe Chantilly is the area's premier "paint your own studio" which provides hundreds of different ceramic items that you paint with our low fire glazes. As the largest studio in Northern Virginia (yes, we seat 70!!), there is always room for you and your group. We are happy to accommodate your school group We are here to help you through your creative project and then in 7 to 8 days your item will be ready for pick up. It will be dishwasher safe and certainly food safe for many years to come. All materials are non toxic, lead free, child safe and non staining so don't worry, come in, have fun and paint! We also have our week long Kids Art Summer Camp that is a must for any budding artist. In addition to pottery, campers explore hand production with the soft clay as well as mosaics, glass fusion, decoupage, canvas painting, and much much more. We also have a monthly adult Canvas, Water Color classes taught in an evening workshop - a fantastic way to learn the basics. There is always something fun going on here at the studio, so just drop by and give yourself permission to play!

The Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Rodeo was the "brain child" of Corporal A.D. Johnson, a motorcycle police officer with the Prince George's County Police Department, Prince George's County Maryland. In 1979, the first rodeo was held, to build up the skills and working relationships of the motorcycle officers in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Tragically in 1982, Corporal Johnson was killed in an on-duty motorcycle accident. In the spirit of Corporal A.D. Johnson, the organization continues today, heading into its 34th year of operation. The rodeos have continued throughout the years, through the efforts of many dedicated volunteers--mostly of police officers, but also many civilians, whose help has made it possible. As the rodeo grew, it became apparent that the committee would need to grow as well, to handle the increasing demands placed upon it. Many new agencies became interested in participating, and the committee was asked to assist with establishing other training events in the United States and Canada. The committee was incorporated in 1988 as The Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Riding Committee, Inc. with its emphasis on increasing the "safe" operation of police motorcycles and increasing the skills of individual officers. The Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Riding Committee, Inc. (MAPMRC, Inc.) continues to be dedicated to increasing "inter-departmental" communications between police agencies everywhere. It is the desire of the MAPMRC, Inc. to provide better service to the public, not only through encouraging safer motorcycle operation, but also with providing an avenue through which officers would have personal contacts with other officers in various areas, providing an invaluable investigative resource. In 1998, the committee voted to take on COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc.) as our main charity. In 2013 we adopted the Make A Wish charity. Through our annual police motorcycle training event held each year and with the raffle of a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, and with the support of other donations, the MAPMRC has been able to donate over $255,000 to COPS and $12,500 to the Make A Wish Foundation. It would not be possible without your support! In the future, the Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Riding Committee, Inc. hopes to continue to grow and to be of service to motorcycle police officers at large, promoting safe riding skills and increased cooperation between agencies.
The mission of Encore Theatrical Arts Project is to be the premier youth performing arts company in the Washington, DC metropolitan area by adhering to standards of excellence in performance, choreography, musical direction, lighting, costume, and set design. Founded in 1996 by Raynor van der Merwe and Mario Petrides, ETAP is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization serving the artistic and cultural needs of Northern Virginia. By inspiring excellence in its performers and crews, ETAP has raised the bar for local theater in this vibrant community outside the Nation’s Capital. In the past ten years, ETAP has staged two original shows each season, and collaborated with other non profit organizations to raise funds for many good causes. Reaching beyond its borders, the company has traveled to China three times since 2002, performing in dozens of venues throughout the country. Membership in ETAP is by audition and is open to anyone in the community with a love for the performing arts, a willingness to work hard and adhere to the high artistic standards set out in the mission statement, a positive attitude, a great sense of humor and the desire to bring joy to the audience. Many of ETAP's alumni have embraced the professional world of dance and theater and can be seen on stage in the Rockettes, in the national tour of The Producers, on cruise ships, theme parks, in music videos and in summer stock. Watch for future plans which include the establishment of a professional jazz dance company based in Northern Virginia.
