The Air Force Civil Engineer Center's mission at the former McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA is to transfer the former base property to McClellan Business Park and local agencies so that it may remain a vital part of the local community and regional economy. AFCEC, with oversight from Federal and State regulatory agencies, continues environmental cleanup at the former base to ensure it is safe for human health and the environment. As of January 2012,the Air Force has transferred some 1,260 acres to the local community. Another 500 acres are slated for transfer in 2012, with the remainder of the base to follow in 2013.
We are a group of 18-24 year olds who have become members of NCCC FEMA Corps. This is a partnership between FEMA and AmeriCorps NCCC. NCCC FEMA Corps members spend 10 months getting things done for America while developing their leadership skills. We serve on teams and are deployed exclusively to support Disaster Response and Recovery projects through FEMA!

FEMA Blue One is a team within AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps Class 1. We have completed a 10-month term of service supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency's efforts to support states' recovery efforts after disaster events. We served at FEMA Region IX Headquarters in Oakland, California, in Moore and El Reno, Oklahoma after the May 2013 tornadoes, in at FEMA's National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and in support of Missouri's recovery efforts after two major floods in 2013. AmeriCorps NCCC is a team-based, residential national service program for people ages 18-24. NCCC has partnered with FEMA to create FEMA Corps, a corps of young people dedicated to disaster response, recovery, and mitigation.
The AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) and its FEMA Corps units engage 2,800 young Americans in a full-time, 10-month commitment to service each year. AmeriCorps NCCC members address critical needs related to natural and other disasters, infrastructure improvement, environmental stewardship and conservation, and urban and rural development; FEMA Corps members are solely dedicated to disaster preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery work. The programs are administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). CNCS is the federal agency that engages more than five million Americans in service through its AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Social Innovation Fund, and Volunteer Generation Fund programs, and leads President's national call to service initiative, United We Serve. We are Gold 5 of AmeriCorps NCCC Pacific Region. We consist of ten eighteen to twenty-four year olds from all across the country. The Wildland Firefighter Apprentice Program is an accredited, educational program designed to enhance and develop future Fire and Aviation Managers. The intent of the Program is to take a career entry firefighter and provide education, training and paid work experience over a 12 to 48 month period, depending on experience. Upon successful completion of all the requirements of the Apprenticeship Program, the apprentice will reach journey-level status as a wildland firefighter. Apprentices are required to successfully complete two four-week-long residential Academies, a prescribed program of Required Supplemental Technical Training and 3,000 hours of supervised on-the-job training. Upon successful completion of these requirements, an apprentice will be placed as a fully qualified Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) within a Federal Wildland Firefighting Agency
AmeriCorps NCCC is a team based national service program for 18-24 year-olds. With 5 campuses across the United States, Green 6 represents the Pacific Region, which has a home base of Sacramento, CA. There are 27 other teams in our region. This is a 10 month commitment to service. Green 6 can be sent anywhere in California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Alaska, or Hawaii, to non-profits and communities that need assistance.
