Quesada Garden Initiative has been a big part of the life of Bayview since before 2002. We have been helping to build community one block at a time. We do community building that makes possible local living on streets with a bad reputation... - Food producing gardens for connecting people to people, people to place, and place to power… - Public gathering spaces designed by the people who use them... - Public art created collectively... - Community organizing done by community members... - Online communications and social networking by folks who already connect in the real world... - Cost-effective change strategies as an alternative to those that spend millions of tax dollars to produce disappointing results...

The idea for VINTAGE MARKET SF came to Anne Neuman and Vanessa Daugherty one day as they were lamenting the fact that there are no high-quality weekend flea markets in the city of San Francisco proper. Coming from London, Paris and New York respectively, where flea markets are woven into the fabric of weekend life, they felt compelled to fill this void and immediately began their quest to find a roster of great vendors and a location where we could hold a well planned and enticing weekly/ bi- monthly or monthly flea market. “We especially love the notion that Vintage Market SF will support an economy for the re-purposed, sustainable and unique object, while mapping out the playground for the irresistible and creative treasure hunt.” Vintage Market SF will be a family-friendly destination with wide reaching appeal that will serve both as a market and as a community magnet. We will feature a selection of well-vetted vendors of vintage, antique and re-purposed items, as well as a tightly curated selection of jewelry, art and crafts by local artists and designers. Vintage Market SF will provide a service to enable the delivery of larger items. Anne Neuman was a jewelry designer for many years in both the US and her native England, selling at London’s iconic Covent Garden market. She later moved to Interior Design and currently has her own staging and interiors firm, Rug & Chair. Anne majored in Modern Languages at the University of Westminster, London. She lives with her husband Michael and daughter Stella in the Mission district of San Francisco. Vanessa Critchell Daugherty was the Gallery Director for Luhring Augustine in New York City from 2004-2012. Previous to that she was the Assistant Curator at Fondation Cartier in Paris for several years working on large scale exhibitions and many commissioned installations. Vanessa is a Junior Council Founding Member of Artadia, a fund dedicated to helping living artists. She majored in Art History and French Literature at Barnard College, Columbia University. She lives with her husband Tyson, and two (soon to be 3!) young boys, Felix and Lucas, in the Mission district of San Francisco.
There is a real Garden of Cosmic Speculation in Scotland, owned by Charles Jencks. It's truly amazing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_of_Cosmic_Speculation This location is named in honor of the original. It's an oasis in the middle of San Francisco. The garden is discoverable only to those prepared to speculate cosmically.
