Jackie Robinson Stadium is a college baseball stadium in Los Angeles, California, U.S., the home field of the UCLA Bruins of the Pac-12 Conference. Opened in 1981, it is the smallest stadium in the conference, with a seating capacity of 1,820. He was the first UCLA athlete to earn varsity letters in four sports: baseball, basketball, football, and track. He played in the major leagues for ten seasons (1947-56), all with the Brooklyn Dodgers. A statue and a mural of Robinson can be found at the entrance concourse of the stadium.Jackie Robinson Stadium is located off-campus, on the west side of the Interstate 405 (San Diego) freeway, on the grounds of the Los Angeles Veterans Health Administration. Robinson's classmate, Hoyt Pardee (UCLA '41), gave a gift to help with the construction of the stadium. The stadium's "Steele Field" was dedicated in honor of the Steele Foundation on May 3, 2008, prior to a game against Arizona State, for its support of the stadium. The hitting facility at the stadium is named Jack and Rhodine Gifford Hitting Facility. Gifford played baseball at UCLA and graduated from the Engineering School with a BSEE degree. We usually play on the IM Field, if it's open and available. If it's not available, which sometimes is the case due to maintenance or whatever, we move to Drake Stadium, which is directly adjacent to the IM Field. If both spaces are unavailable, then we move to the upper part of campus, and play on the fields in between the library and Royce Hall.
Founded in 2014 by Ty Gretzky the Gretzky Hockey School was created to help give hockey players a rare opportunity to learn the same things Walter Gretzky taught Wayne and the kids growing up about the great game of hockey. The Gretzky Hockey School is intended to be a fun and unique experience with on-ice skill development from some of the best instructors in the world, coupled with off-ice activities to help improve kid’s skill sets. The Gretzky Hockey School will be a week of memories you will never forget. “I am very excited for the hockey schools this summer. Not only is it a great opportunity for young players to improve their game, but also a chance to have a memorable and fun experience with their families in Coeur d’Alene, ID.” - Wayne Gretzky 2014 camp
Upon arriving at school freshman year, a close-knit group of friends sharing a passion for snow sports went in search of the various ski/snowboard opportunities UCLA had to offer. To their surprise UCLA didn't have a ski club - only a ski team. Although the team is well established and offers great boarding and skiing opportunities, its sign-up cost and enrollment in competitions didn't identify with the crew. They were interested in a cheaper, more laid back atmosphere where people could just kick it and hit the slopes. The idea for a UC Board Club was born. The Board Club @ UCLA is a recreational snowboarding/skiing club that is associated with snowboarding clubs at the other UC campuses, most of which have hundreds of members. The all-UC trips are on a much bigger scale. Organized by all of the UC clubs together, the week long All-Cal trip over Winter Break and President's Day weekend NorCal trip offer multiple days on the mountain, stays in cabins/hotels, raging parties, and the opportunity to meet a variety of people from other UC campuses who share our love for the snow, all at an extremely discounted price. You don't have to ski or snowboard but you can still be a part of this group and go on trips/party with us. We snowboard, ski, skateboard, surf, wakeboard, etc. We like to have a good time. ALL CAL 2013 is going to COPPER, COLORADO. www.laboardclub.com Membership being accepted now. 30 dollars for a year, check the website to see what you get!
