Shortly after returning from the Pacific Theatre at the end of World War II, H. A. Kern founded Kern Meat Company in a South St. Louis garage with the simple but all important philosophy of customer service and quality meat. From these humble origins, Kern Meat has grown to become one of the most recognizable names in the St. Louis area for providing quality USDA inspected meat. Most recently, we were selected by the members of the Chefs de Cuisine Association of St. Louis as the 2009 Purveyor of the Year. We are still family-owned and operated, and we are now in our third generation. Yet, we have never lost sight of H. A. Kern’s founding principle. This principle guides our sales, production, and the delivery of our product from our facility to your kitchen.

As Red Fox, Jenny, Chris, and Jake built an brick oven together in the backyard of delightful South City grocery, Grove East Provisions. There they bake naturally-fermented artisan loaves and scrumptious pastries to be sold in-house and all around town. We fire up our oven and bake Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Find our stuff all week long at Grove East Provisions! Also available at Local Harvest and City Greens, and a handful of restaurants around town. To the staff of life!
Kosher Food Truck STL is a social enterprise, which will provide a delicious and mobile Kosher option in St. Louis. We seek to bring together the Jewish community with greater STL over tasty food, and most importantly we will feed the 26% of Jewish families who are food insecure. This initiative was developed by participants in Jewish Federation of St. Louis’ innovation accelerator program JFACE. Supporting Jewish entrepreneurs in the community is a priority of Jewish Federation of St. Louis, as part of its mission to preserve and enhance Jewish life in St. Louis.
