The Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center is part of the Georgia Tech campus.HistoryGeorgia Tech's athletic center began at its current location in 1977 as the Student Athletic Center, or SAC. Later, Georgia Tech was chosen as the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics aquatic venue, and the Aquatic Center was constructed next to the SAC. The Aquatic Center cost $16,800,000, and featured competitions in swimming, synchronized swimming, diving, water polo, and the swimming segment of the modern pentathlon competition. The stadium had a capacity of 14,600 at the time. It also had a temporary pool for the water polo competitions seating 4,000.After the games, it has been used as a recreational facility for Georgia Tech students and faculty. Initially an outdoor stadium with a roof to protect spectators and competitors from rain, the Aquatic Center was renovated between 2001 and 2003 to enclose the Center completely. The seating capacity was reduced to 1,950. Above the Olympic pool, an upper floor of multi-purpose courts was added by suspending it from the roof; this set a record for the world's largest suspended concrete structure. At this point it was renamed to the Campus Recreation Center, or CRC.The SAC also had a smaller recreational pool outdoors, which was contained in a pressurized bubble. During the conversion to the CRC, the pool was redesigned to be larger, and was enclosed and fully connected to the rest of the facility.

The Georgia Tech Research Institute is the nonprofit applied research arm of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. GTRI employs around 1,765 people, and is involved in approximately $305 million in research annually for more than 200 clients in industry and government.Initially known as the Engineering Experiment Station, the organization was proposed in 1929 by W. Harry Vaughan as an analogue to the agricultural experiment stations; the Georgia General Assembly passed a law that year creating the organization on paper, but did not allocate funds to start it. To boost the state's struggling economy in the midst of the Great Depression, funds were found, and the station was finally established with US$5,000 in April 1934. GTRI's research spans a variety of disciplines, including national defense, homeland security, public health, education, mobile and wireless technologies, and economic development. Major customers for GTRI research include United States Department of Defense agencies, the state of Georgia, non-defense federal agencies, and private industry. Overall, contracts and grants from Department of Defense agencies account for approximately 84% of GTRI's total research funding. Since it was established, GTRI has expanded its engineering focus to include science, economics, policy, and other areas that leverage GTRI's partnership with Georgia Tech. GTRI researchers are named on 76 active patents and 43 pending patents.

The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) is one of eight degree-granting academic units (Schools) in the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech's main campus occupies part of Midtown Atlanta, bordered by 10th Street to the north and by North Avenue to the south, placing it well in sight of the Atlanta skyline. In 1996, the campus was the site of the athletes' village and a venue for a number of athletic events for the 1996 Summer Olympics. The construction of the Olympic village, along with subsequent gentrification of the surrounding areas enhanced the campus.The Georgia Tech campus is located in Midtown, an area north of downtown Atlanta. Although a number of skyscrapers—most visibly the headquarters of AT&T, The Coca-Cola Company, and Bank of America—are visible from all points on campus, the campus itself has few buildings over four stories and has a great deal of greenery. This gives it a distinctly suburban atmosphere quite different from other Atlanta campuses such as that of Georgia State University.

The Invention Studio is a student-run makerspace open to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff for free. We provide tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, a waterjet, and more. No experience? No problem! Our friendly student volunteers, known as Prototyping Instructors, will teach you how to use the tools and help you with your project. We welcome personal projects, class projects, and academic research projects. The Invention Studio opened its doors in October 2008, offering students space and resources to develop innovative projects in a collaborative environment. The Invention Studio began as a support for the Capstone Design program, but it has spread to support more than 25 Georgia Tech design and build courses, and many research initiatives. The Invention Studio is unique in that students “own” the space. The Prototyping Instructors lead other students in the safe use and maintenance of the space and equipment, ensuring that the resources remain available to all students, faculty and staff regardless of major or status. Alpha Pi Mu was the brainchild of James T. French who in 1949 was a senior industrial engineering student at Georgia Tech. Nine men chosen through their affiliation with the Georgia Tech Chapter of Tau Beta Pi constituted the original membership of Alpha Pi Mu. The Georgia Tech engineers who led the initial developmental work wanted an organization to provide a common ground on which their outstanding young engineers could exchange ideas, and to provide experiences which could help their future professional development. In 1959, full membership in the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) was attained. Alpha Pi Mu is the only nationally accepted industrial engineering honor society, due to its association with ACHS. Chapters now exist in almost every major university with an accredited industrial and engineering program. There are currently 60 active chapters of the society and a membership of 15,000, with approximately 600 new members being initiated each year. While academic interests and abilities are required for membership, the society's overall goals are much broader.

The Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (CRA) is devoted to interdisciplinary research and education linking astrophysics, astroparticle physics, numerical relativity and gravitational wave physics. Our research focuses on extreme astrophysics such as mergers of black holes and neutron stars, central engines of active galactic nuclei, gamma ray bursts, and sources of the high energy cosmic rays and neutrinos.

The Southeast Regional Conference for Asian American Leaders (SERCAAL) is a non-profit, student-led conference originally started at the University of Florida. Research activity in the IEN is carried out in both the Pettit Microelectronics Research Center and the Marcus Nanotechnology Building. Pettit houses an 8,500-square-foot cleanroom (75% class 100, 25% class 10). Marcus includes an additional 10,000 square feet of semiconductor cleanroom space for nanoelectronic device (top-down) fabrication as well as 5,000 square feet of biological (bottom-up) cleanroom space.
