I am a firm believer that Architectural Design is not based on an Architectural creed. I believe that Architectural Design is based on the interconnectivity of all parts of a system. These parts (psychological, sociological, historical, scientific, ecological, etc.) interact with and rely on one another simply by the fact that they occupy the same system in this world. Hence......the creation of LOST SOCK SYMPOSIUM. The lost sock is a common occurrence that nearly everyone has encountered. It stimulates the mind to create diagrammatic mapping of previous steps to search and locate it’s new home. Initially, the lost sock is thought as irreplaceable when the pair separate as a system; however, I believe the remaining sock creates new opportunities to be interpreted and reinterpreted; forming a cohesive bond for a new connection to an unforeseen system. The “lost sock” used as a simple metaphor for creating new design, it invites one to explore the mundane through a simple formula of interpreting and reinterpreting to uncover an unknown system and solution. This process is carried out through a symposium between clients, consultants, artists, and builders to diagram, map, research, and explore the connections that are hidden within the context of the problem. This unknown road leads to and establishes a new destination of underlying systems that question the mundane and generate the unknown.
